Fall Spa Week: Buy a Luxurious Spa Getaway for $50

During Fall Spa Week — October 12-18 — hundreds of spas nationwide will offer $50 treatments valued between $100 and $500. Visit the website, and after you give your state or a zip code, you’ll see a list of participating spas and the treatments offered. Most of the participants will be day spas. But why settle for a bargain facial or massage when could get much more?

Look for a a resort or hotel spa, for these are likely to have full-service spas. If you find one within easy reach, you can have a real getaway with a steam or sauna, a comfortable relaxation area, a soothing cup of herbal tea — and if you’re really lucky, a swim in a pool. For a modest extra charge, you can often add a spa lunch to your getaway.

For example, the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas have locations in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Texas, Virginia and Washington, D.C. They offer $50 facials, body treatments and special Spa Week pedicures. Some locations, like the one at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City give you the opportunity to enjoy the amenities of a  full-service spa along with your treatment.

The Blue Marble Spa at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay in San Diego was named one of the “Top Ten Spas Around the World” by Organic Spa magazine. Amenities include Eucalyptus infused steam rooms, rainfall showers, outdoor pools and a hot tub, as well as complimentary valet parking. For $50, you can get an Organic Massage with Sunflower, Olive and Jojoba Oils; a Pure Results Facial or Pedicure Ritual with Chinese Jasmine Sugar Scrub and Aromatherapy Salts.

Spa Botanica at Embassy Suites has a number of participating locations, including North Carolina, Colorado and Texas. In Glendale, Arizona, the spa has an outdoor pool and offers guests either a Swedish massage or a customized facial.

Spa 66 at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 is located adjacent to the hotels’s three-pool waterfall oasis and the lush tropical garden — ideal places for lounging. Choose a Mini-Facial with Grapewine Acid Peel, a Pumpkin Souffle Pedicure or Foot Reflexology with Signature Aromatherapy Blend and Hot Towels.

The Stillwater Spa at the Hyatt Regency in Newport Rhode Island, has a private deck overlooking Narragansett Bay, an inviting relaxation room and pedicure stations with water views. Enjoy either the indoor or outdoor pool and choose a Vinotherapy Massage, a Vinotherapy Facial or a Vinotherapy Pedicure with Hand Paraffin.

To find your own $50 getaway, figure out how far you’re willing to travel, then search the Spa Week website for resort or hotel spas within that distance. Make your booking in advance — and enjoy!
