The newest addition to the exclusive Luxe Collection by L.E. Hotels™ is “the sweetest” yet. The global hospitality brand recently welcomed Hotel Hacienda de Abajo, a restored 17th century sugar plantation located in the Canary Islands, on the island of San Miguel de La Palma (La Palma).
The adults-only property -16 and older- boasts the distinction of being the first hotel built in Tazacorte, the Spanish municipality known for having the most sunshine a year. Hotel Hacienda de Abajo has gone to great lengths to respect the original layout of the sugar estate, its traditional Canarian architecture and several of the furnishings and artifacts found throughout the property. From an eighteenth-century table to a sculpture of the Virgin Mary, the property has more than 1300 antiquities, some dating all the way back to the first century. In addition to the pieces in the main “Casa Principal de Tazacorte,” guests can marvel at some of the artifacts in the small chapel or the luxurious bathhouse. The historic property is set between lush vegetation and the coast, offering stunning views of both the sea and banana crops.
As with all members in the premier Luxe Collection by L.E. Hotels, Hotel Hacienda de Abajo will now receive full access to a suite of L.E. Hotels’ services. From extensive communication channels and a global distribution system to regional sales offices, all services are aimed to increase Hotel Hacienda de Abajo and all L.E. Hotels property’s visibility, viability and revenue.
“Luxe Collection classifications are not easy to come by,” said Efrem Harkham, Founder and Chairman of L.E. Hotels. “To start, a property must have historical significance, a prime location and the finest services and amenities, and Hotel Hacienda de Abajo meets the mark in every regard.”
The intimate property offers 32 guestrooms and suites ranging from Classic double rooms to Premium single rooms with a balcony, terrace or access to the garden. All rooms are also equipped with L’Occitane® amenities and ecologically friendly mattresses, bedding and towels, and are exquisitely decorated with works of art, fine furnishings and tapestries from the largest private art collection on the island.
For guests that are looking to experience La Palma’s warm sunny climate, the property offers an outdoor freshwater swimming pool. Alternatively, guests can relax at the property’s Bath House. After a relaxing day, guests can wine and dine at the El Sitio restaurant, where they can enjoy a unique mix of innovative flavors and exotic aromas, all of which combine local cuisine with rich and elaborate international influences.
The property was also voted Best Non-Urban Hotel by Conde Nast Traveler Spain this last year. For more information on Hotel Hacienda de Abajo and all properties in the exclusive Luxe Collection please visit: https://www.lehotels.com/luxe/.
