Jill Weinlein

As a travel journalist for 17 years some of my favorite experiences have been climbing The Great Wall in China, swam with Stingrays in Bora-Bora, explored caves in Belize, followed a pod of Orcas in Alaska, swam in the warm waters of Krabi in Thailand, visited Marco Polo's house in Korcula, Croatia and sailing around Richard Branson's Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands. Read my travel reviews to be inspired to see the world.

Jim Byers

Travel is a big part of who I am. My parents often told me I was conceived in Rome, which is too much information for a kid if you ask me. I met my wife on a train trip, oddly enough, while travelling to Rome. I grew up in California but have lived in Toronto for more than three decades, and I try to bring the world to my readers with a bit of a Canadian perspective and a generous dose of humour. (Sorry, U.S. audience, that would be humor for you). I was travel editor for five years at the Toronto Star, which has the largest travel section in North America, and I’ve had my own travel blog for years. I now write destination stories for several publications, including five items a month for Postmedia and Sun Media websites and newspapers across Canada. My work also appears in the Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, Zoomer magazine, Canadian Traveller and The Australian newspaper, as well as Travelzoo Canada’s website. I love every kind of travel, from Canadian mountains to European cities. I also adore a good beach, old time rock and roll and a nice glass of red wine, though usually not at the same time. Follow me on Facebook and Pinterest at jimbyerstravel and check my photos and videos on Instragram @jimbyerstravel1. You also can keep up with my thoughts on the travel industry and the world in general on my Twitter feed @jimbyerstravel. Or contact me the old fashioned way by emailing me at jim@jimbyerstravel.com. Thanks. And happy travels!

Karen Gershowitz has been traveling solo since age seventeen, when she flew to Europe and didn’t return to the US for three years. In her career as a marketing strategist and researcher she traveled the world conducting thousands of meetings, focus groups and interviews. Her first book of travel stories, Travel Mania, explores the confluence of travel and life events and how travel has changed her beliefs and life direction. Wanderlust continues those stories, addressing issues readers have asked to hear more about—memorable food, people, and places she experienced in her travels. She hopes these stories tickle the travel bug in readers and set them off on their own adventures. Karen lives in New York City.

Katherine Frelon

I am Katherine Frelon, and my passion is creating delicious, colourful, food sourced from the freshest ingredients and sharing it with others over a glass or two of perfectly paired wine. Leaving England when I was in my very early 20′s, I set out on an adventure. I renovated various old buildings, learning to roof, plumb and tile along the way; forage for mushrooms; skin some of the most unpleasant looking fish and mammals I’d ever seen; pluck the wildlife; experiment with cheesemaking; make ‘boudin noir’ with no skins; rustle up a cauldron of a few hundred snails (all collected by hand, although I’m pleased to say not mine!); and finally made my way to Burgundy, where I settled and worked as a successful Chef for the American/French 5* Hotel Barging Company. Having searched high and low I finally found ’La Ferme de la Lochere‘, the perfect setting to share my love of all things French – the markets, the food, the wine and the wonderful local artisans. ‘La ferme de la lochere’ became the epicentre of gourmet culinary wine adventures! As well as my freelance catering commitments I have a passion for writing, being included in the BBC Good Food magazine and providing special occasion recipes in the newspapers. My inspiration comes from all over the world and I love creating recipes that are easy to follow and reproduce at home. A pioneer for all things locally grown and sourced, I created a range of ready prepared meals for my local farm shop. These have since gone on to win many awards and have been featured in Country Living Magazine. One of my greatest passions is cooking with spices and I am always experimenting with different combinations of ingredients, styles, and tastes. I am slightly obsessed I guess!!! I often refer to myself as the “head chef and bottle washer” but nothing would be possible if it were not for the dedicated team of friends and professionals that make my work such a joy!

Mary Haban

She’s an Emmy-Award winning writer and producer whose background in journalism led her to discover a talent she’d never known: the ability to strike up random conversations with virtually anyone, anywhere. It’s precisely how she discovered that the waiter taking her order one fall day had just finished driving cross country with a glove and baseball to play catch with as many people as he could. “Why?” So he could write a book about it. Intrigued, she wrote a story about him, and the rest is history. This “knack for chat” would soon become her most notable attribute when interviewing folks for her stories. From CEO’s, and hoteliers, to architects and waiters, singers to skiers, protestors, sports figures, and countless others, she’s run the gamut of story assignments for some of nations premiere publications. Some of her most notable projects have included work for NBC, The Travel Channel and Lifetime Television for Women. She served as contributing writer for The Tampa Tribune, Colorado Homes & Lifestyles Magazine, and 5280: Denver’s Mile High Magazine. During her tenure with a Miami public relations agency, she was the lead writer for such prestigious clients as Bacardi Imports.

Her dream assignments came to life when she was featured on the Golf Channel as part of the Florida swing of the PGA Tour and sat in the broadcasters booth during the Phillies Spring Training in Clearwater. A graduate of Stanford University’s Mass Media Institute and University of Miami’s School of Business, Mary Haban is most at home when she’s engaged in great conversation with people she’s never met. Her zest for life and adventure make her one of the most avid NASCAR fans, wannabe scratch golfers and perpetual yogis in search of that perfect pose.

His own education began at the University of South Florida where he received his Bachelors degree. He will tell you “the cook is at the center of all things social, and the way you get around the impossibility of cooking for everyone all the time, is to share your knowledge and inspire. Equally important, the kitchen is the heart of the home, and if well designed it will facilitate productive workflow and create an inviting atmosphere for guests to observe and participate". Those principles guide Spencer and his viewers through each episode of his new cooking videos on Luxe Chef, while his skills as an educator, musician and video producer make the journey fun and informative.
