Beauty Hacks to Beat Winter Blues

Beauty Hacks to Beat Winter Blues

Winter can be tough on hair, and sometimes no amount of product can restore shine and luster. If you color your hair as I do, then you’re probably faced with dull, dry hair, regardless of the shampoos, conditioners and treatments you use.

That’s why I was eager to try a brand-new hair conditioning tool that seemed to be unlike anything I’d ever seen before. Recently introduced to the United States, it’s called INVERSE and it uses patented ICE (sub-zero) temperatures to produce all-natural extreme conditioning for dry, damaged hair like mine.

Whereas hair tools like my flat iron almost always use heat, which damages the hair, Inverse’s sub-zero temperatures are said to get beyond the outer layer of the hair and lock in moisture deep within the hair. (Conditioners only coat the hair and then are rinsed off.)

When I received my Inverse wand, I placed it in the freezer for a few hours, as per the instructions. I shampooed my hair, as usual and lightly towel-dried it. As instructed, I used the wand as I would a flat iron or a curling iron, starting at the roots and gliding gently downward and outward toward the ends—then repeating for about 10 minutes.

I have followed the same routine for more than a month now and I can see dramatic changes in my hair. It is smoother, softer, less frizzy—and definitely less dry.

According to the explanations on how the Inverse works, treating hair at icy cold temperatures causes the hair fiber itself to change, locking in moisture and improving strength and elasticity within the hair.

What I observe are the results, even as I continue to color my hair–so I will continue to treat my hair simply with icy cold to balance out and reverse any damage caused by the coloring process.

Winter can also be tough on skin, with frigid outdoor temperatures chapping and chafing lips and cheeks—and indoor central heat drying out—and aging—your skin.

A timely trip to the spa for a dermabrasion treatment can help. Even better: a dermabrasion treatment at home with the MicrodermMD device by Trophy Skin.

This diamond-tipped hand-held, suction-motored device glides over skin, buffing fine lines and wrinkles, smooths texture—and reduces the signs of sun damage and age spots. When you treatment at home is finished you’ll see brighter skin, as well as improved texture.

The MicrodermMD is easy to use on the neck and body, as well as on the face.

Once skin is refreshed and brightened, it makes sense to keep it moisturized and dewy soft with products that contain only natural ingredients—and nothing that is chemical or toxic.

Zatik Glow Moisture Cream is such a product, formulated with a blend of pure concentrated organic floral and berry extracts. It contains proportions of omega-3 and omega-7 EFAs oils that promote smooth skin feel, soften visible fine lines and wrinkles, and provides deep rich nourishing skin hydration without a heavy after feel.

Zatik Glow Moisture Cream is vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free, alcohol-free, Ph balanced, bio-degradable and USDA Certified Organic.
