Mom and Daughter Bond on the Disney Speedway

I’d like to think my needs are minimal: a clean bed, food and water (maybe a little wine) a camera and computer. However, I admit my desires run toward luxury and I have developed a taste for out-of-the-ordinary travel and adventure. Feeding that hunger can be challenging. Luck was on my side as my twenty-three year-old daughter (yes, she’s spoiled) and I were presented an appetizing treat. We didn’t nibble at the chance, we devoured the opportunity to drive an exotic luxury car as fast as we could handle. Decadent, for sure! Everyone knows Disney creates magical memories and...

Business Class: Don’t Leave Without It

How in the world did I end up in business class? Long story short—pure luck. With fewer than thirty days notice, I found myself prepping for a trip of a lifetime. Thank goodness for connections, links and networking as all things fell into place effortlessly. I’ve never been so lucky, but also not one to kick a gift horse in the mouth. When a friend of a friend called and asked if I wanted to go on a trip with her, I graciously accepted before she could finish asking. It’s kind of a blur, but all I remember hearing...

Confirmed Anti-Cruiser Loved Viking River Cruising!

Let’s begin with why I strongly dislike (only because it’s not nice to say HATE) ocean cruises: seasickness; queuing  up with thousands of  peeps who all seem to be vying for the “how-high-can-I-load-my-plate-with-mediocre-food-from-the-buffet-table” award; long, boring days of bobbing around the high seas with nary a speck a land in sight; wasted hours getting  off ship at each port and then having to drive long distances to get to to town-repeat for return to ship, having to fork over additional big bucks for ‘canned’ shore excursions, being reduced to  watching Vegas wanna-be entertainment, etc. Which is why I wasn’t...

Pebble Beach Concours Weekend: An Intoxicating Symphony For The Senses

Story by Katianna Hasbrouck with Maralyn D. Hill, Photographs by Katianna Hasbrouck and B. Wiley‎ The 64th annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance was held the third  weekend in August.  This is no ordinary weekend. From the time you hop on California’s Highway 101 headed towards Monterey, the excitement is tangible. There is something different in the air.   An Aston Martin careens by, then another and another, followed by a McLaren! Chasing each other with fluid grace, taking corners with the smoothest of ease, these vehicles in their wakes generate great fun for followers. Taking Route 68 into town can take the momentum away, as one comes...

10 World’s Most Expensive Cars Owned By Celebrities

By Alex Hillsberg and Chris Sibbet Does having the most expensive car matter to a celebrity? Apparently not to David Beckham. Nor does he care that his Rollys-Royce Phantom Drophead is the slowest in top speed and acceleration rate among the top 10 most expensive celebrity cars featured on our latest infographic. Perhaps for this Englishman, it’s the class that counts. You couldn’t get a classier “family car” than Beckham’s; he was even spotted to drive his kids around Beverly Hills in his Phantom. But rap stars are definitely at it, topping the first half of the most expensive...

Venetian Gondola Ride In Channel Islands Marina

We arrived at the public dock of Channel Islands Harbor Marina in Oxnard, California, and I stepped aboard my personal yacht. It was mine for about ninety minutes – a flat-bottomed, black Venetian rowing boat look-alike, complete with gondolier who wore a traditional blue-striped shirt. Shortly, a bottle of locally produced Ventura red wine appeared, and a box of pizza from Fresco II on the wharf. Lunch while on a row around the canal to tour the rich abodes, and possibly famous ones of the area. My gondolier was Mark Schooling, owner of Gondola Paradiso, and nearly a twenty-year...
