Chelsea Flower Show: Egerton House Hotel

Chelsea Flower Show: Egerton House Hotel

Every year the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea are transformed with stunning horticultural displays for the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show (May 21-25).  World-renowned garden designers, plant specialists, florists and nurseries come together every year to show off cutting-edge garden designs and inspirational floral exhibits.

This year, in honor of the event, the  five-star Egerton House Hotel in Knightsbridge has received a complete floral makeover inside and out. To celebrate two new garden installations, the hotel has launched a variety of floral inspired experiences including; a new Summer Garden Afternoon Tea, a selection of botanical cocktails and a flower arranging workshop with an expert florist.

Jane Wadham, whose client list also includes Victoria Beckham and RHS Chelsea Flower Show, has completely transformed the exterior of the boutique hotel with blooming wisteria and a colorful selection of English garden classics. A pop-up indoor garden has also been installed in the reception area with plum and crab apple trees, lavender, foxgloves, jasmine and roses delighting guests on arrival at the hotel. In celebration of Chelsea Flower Show, the indoor garden will be on display throughout May and the exterior flower installation will bloom and flourish throughout the summer.

At the end of May, the hotel’s indoor garden will be donated to gardening-for-health charity Thrive Battersea, which enables positive change in the lives of disabled and disadvantaged people through gardening and horticulture.

New Summer Garden Afternoon Tea

The Egerton’s floral makeover is complemented with the launch of a new Summer Garden Afternoon Tea offering floral inspired pastries including a Rosewater Chocolate Brownie, Marigold Macaroons, Lavender Posset with Poppy Seed biscuit, Summer Fruit Vanilla Tart, Blueberry Towerand a Spinach, Blackcurrant Cupcake with Edible Flowers. The tea is served alongside delicate finger sandwiches and freshly baked scones and is priced at £48.00 per person. Vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian Afternoon Teas are also available.

Botanical cocktail menu

A menu of new botanical cocktails is also available at the hotel bar throughout summer, designed by The Egerton’s expert mixologists, widely renowned for serving London’s best martini. Gin-based cocktails on offer include the Birds and Bees (with camomile tea, lemon juice and honey from the bee hives on the roof of sister hotel The Chesterfield Mayfair) and the Water Lily (orange liqueur, crème de Violette and lemon juice) plus an ice-cold Nasturtium Martini with vodka or gin, vermouth and a Nasturtium flower.

Flower arranging workshop: The Egerton Garden

Expert florist and designer of the Egerton’s new garden installation, Jane Wadham, will host a series of exclusive flower arranging events at The Egerton House Hotel over the summer. The Egerton Garden events will include a flowering cocktail or glass of bubbles on arrival, a Summer Garden Afternoon Tea with free-flowing sparkling tea and a 45-minute workshop with Jane where guests will make their very own lavender sphere arrangement to take home. The events will be priced at £70 per person but dates are still TBC.
