“We proudly honour Día de Los Muertos with an epicurean journey through the traditions of Mexico, along with cultural experiences and workshops that are rooted in rich Mexican tradition and heritage,” shared John O’Sullivan, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. “We are fortunate to welcome incredible Mexican talent to the hotel for the weekend, allowing our visitors to truly immerse in culturally rich cuisine of the country, to nicely complement an array of visual and experiential programming that celebrates and respects the spirit of the holiday that celebrates life, family, and friendship.”
Savour the Celebration
Executive Chef Jorge González of Dos Catrinas will prepare exciting Mexican dishes alongside notable visiting chefs, that include Chef Richard Sandoval, James Beard Semi-Finalist Carlos Galana of Michelin-recognized Guzina Oaxaca in Mexico City, and Chef Jose Miguel Garcia of Espantapájaros and La Barraca in Mexico City.
Kick off the holiday weekend on Nov. 1, during Tertulia Night with a multi-station dinner at Dos Catrinas. Professional makeup artists will have an area to paint a traditional Mexican Dia de los Muertos face. Festivities include stilt walkers, and performances from local musicians.
The following day is a Barbacoa demonstration at Cuevas Beach at 6:30 p.m. This local indigenous tradition of slow-cooking a whole animal over a pit oven, will have the chefs of the Resort demonstrate the preparation of the meat, how they marinate the meat with agave leaves, and garnished with onion and cilantro. Complimentary tastings are available, and guests of Dos Catrinas will be able to enjoy more of the prepared meat as a main course item.
Día de Muertos Dinner
On Saturday, November 2 at Dos Catrinas, guests can reserve a table for a multi-course dinner experience. Guest chefs will present their own course on the menu, to showcase their individual creativity and expertise. The dinner will be accompanied by performances from local musicians.
