Festive Pretox: 5 Ways to Prepare for the Party Season

Don’t panic, but the festive season is quickly approaching. We’re all guilty of leaving our party prep to the last minute, but that often leads to disappointment with outfits and the dry skin that we all get yet never seem to plan for. Be on top of your game and get a head start with our five easy ways to prepare for the party season, also known as a festive pretox.

Look for your party outfit early

Be prepared and sort out what you’re going to wear to those festive parties early. There’s nothing worse than planning an outfit and realising the style you’ve gone for is completely sold out in your size. If you know you have some Christmas parties coming up, get your perfect dress as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.

Try something new for the festive season, such as a warm ribbed knit dress or a flattering fit and flare skater style from the likes of Superdry. Getting your dress early not only means less risk of it selling out, but you can warn your friends off buying it too – a win-win for all girls during the party season.

Keep your skin hydrated

The combined effect of alcohol and the typically cold weather can play havoc on your skin by drying it out. This can easily be avoided by preparing your skin with a delicate but moisturising skin routine. Piling on thick moisturiser may seem like the most beneficial method, but this can cause a break out when applied to the face or make the skin overly oily.

Grazia have a winter skincare guide you can read here, or pop into a local skincare shop to find out what’s right for your skin type. Don’t leave it until your skin is feeling the effects of winter, start now and have soft skin all year round.

Try out a new beauty routine

Trends always change depend on the season, so don’t be left behind and keep your beauty routine up to date. According to Vogue, red lips and glitter are two of the biggest trends for the winter season this year. Red is a classic Christmas colour, so show off your festive side during the party season with a burgundy colour paired with a touch of glitter on the lids and winged black eyeliner. If you want something a little bit more subtle for your festive events, go for lashings of mascara and prep your skin with strobe cream for a natural looking glow.

Take on a new exercise routine

It’s normal to want to curl up on the sofa every night during the cold winter season, but force yourself up and out of the house by going to the gym. This may be the very last thing you feel like doing but, according to Cosmopolitan, regular exercise during this time has so many benefits.

Start now and get into the routine of things so you’re less likely to slack off as the party season rolls around. You’ll find that working out during this time boosts your immune system, gives you more energy and improves your mood. Plus, you’ll feel fit and confident in your dress, so why not blast the cold away and give it a go?

Experiment with a new hairstyle

Start thinking of ways to change up your everyday look to perfect the party vibe. It’s easy to get stuck in the same routine for your hair, nails and accessories, but why not step out of your comfort zone? If you usually straighten your hair for work everyday, change it up by curling it into a glamorous half up-do for your Christmas party.

Add a touch of glitz with some Christmas nails if you normally leave them natural by using burgundy or silver gel polish. The smallest of changes can boost your confidence, so look at your everyday style and plan how you can change it up for the party season. Whether it’s simply adding some accessories or completely changing up your look, make just a couple of changes to break the mould.
