Summertime is right around the corner and is one of the best times to escape the city, the Emerson Resort & Spa in the Catskill Mountains and located a two-hour drive from NYC is announcing a number of new offerings for all guests to experience.
From select outdoor summer music performances when guests can enjoy cocktails al fresco, exclusive access to tennis courts at the private Wiltwyck Golf Club, a new partnership with Hudson River Cruises, a special offering with the upcoming launch of Rail Explorers’ Catskills Division, and new experiences for the whole family, there are now new ways to find refuge in the bucolic upstate NY and experience the best of the Catskills.

New Outdoor Summer Performances Al Fresco
Introducing a lineup of local, acclaimed musical artists who have played with some of the greatest bands of our time, the new summer music shows will give guests an opportunity to unwind and enjoy melodic tunes on the banks of the scenic Esopus Creek, along with drinks and snacks available for purchase. The shows are complimentary for overnight guests and will take place on select dates, including June 30, July 28 and August 25.
Exclusive Access to Tennis Courts at Private Wiltwyck Golf Club
For the first time ever, guests will have access to the member’s-only Wiltwyck Tennis Courts at the rate of $15 per hour, per court. Scott Taylor, Wiltwyck tennis pro, will also offer lessons and clinics to Emerson guests. Certified with the Professional Tennis Registry, Scott will adeptly guide tennis enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels to learn and progress with their skills. Rates start at $32 for semi-private lesson.
Partnership with Hudson River Cruises
The Emerson Resort & Spa has partnered with Hudson River Cruises to offer special rates for a two-hour cruise along the scenic Hudson. For over 35 years, Hudson River Cruises has provided passengers a first-hand view of the historic shoreline from the decks of the Rip Van Winkle. From their location in the heart of the Hudson River Valley in Kingston NY, Hudson River Cruises provides a unique opportunity to explore this scenic shoreline. Special rates start at $22 for adults; $17 for children. Offering available from May 12 through October 28, 2018.
Rail Explorers: Catskills Division
Opening Memorial Day weekend, Rail Explorers will provide the magic of the railroad and visitors can discover the rails that run alongside the Esopus Creek from the village of Phoenicia. Emerson guests will receive a 10% discount off ticket pricing. In addition, to celebrate their opening weekend special, Rail Explorers is offering their “River Run” program, which will be an eight-mile round-trip experience (with electric pedal assistance) where guests can experience the magic and history of the Ulster & Delaware Railroad. The ride will approximately take two hours.
Scavenger Hunt & Kaleidoscope Workshop for the Whole Family
The Emerson invites the whole family to learn about the local history and wildlife of the Catskills. Kids and parents alike can request for a Scavenger Hunt map at the Front Desk, which has five to seven trivia questions about the Emerson and the Catskills. Each question has a hint as to where to find the answer on the Emerson website, brochures, etc. Those who successfully complete the Scavenger Hunt can turn in their maps at the Front Desk in exchange for a special “sweet” prize. What’s more, the Emerson recently introduced the kids’ version of Build-Your-Own-Kaleidoscope workshop in the resort’s “Kaleidostore,” which will be held during the new adult Kaleidoscope workshops as well. Kids’ kaleidoscope workshop rate is $16.50 per kit, including instruction with the Emerson’s Activities Coordinator, while adult workshops are price at $50 per person. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Advanced reservations are required and workshops will be held on May 12, July 7 and September 8, 2018 from 1 to 4 pm.
