Going Green in November with LastObject

According to a recent Reuters special report, the Covid-19 pandemic has “trashed the recycling dream”. Plastic shopping bags, plastic gloves, face shields and takeaway food containers have piled up in landfills, because most cannot be recycled. LastObject founder Isabel Aagaard is on a mission to eliminate single use items by creating reusable sustainable alternatives. This young designer from Copenhagen, Denmark has created innovative solutions to help consumers reduce wasteful habits and make a better impact on earth.

Her first product, LastSwab was launched in 2019, as the world’s first reusable Q-Tip. Instead of using a traditional one and throwing it in the trash, Isabel’s LastSwab is made with materials to be reused, washed and stored in a bio-based carrying case. Using and reusing one of her LastSwab’s replaces 1000 single-use cotton swabs.

In 2020, Isabel designed and created LastTissue – a pack of 100% cotton reusable tissues. It’s similar to a handkerchief that can be used, washed and used again.

It took only 40 minutes for LastTissue to be fully funded on Kickstarter. On a roll, she made and unveiled LastRound – a set of six reusable, washable make-up pads.

Isabel stands by her products and announced a Green November campaign to replace the standard Black Friday sale. For each product sold during the month, the company vows to remove 1kg/2lb of ocean-bound plastic with Plastic Bank. The goal is to remove a minimum of 10 tons of plastic by the end of the month, as well as reduce the amount of new single-use plastic waste.

In addition, Plastic Bank’s circular economy for plastics provides opportunities for people in developing countries to earn a living through plastic collection.

So far Isabel has helped eliminate more than 908 million single-use products since 2019 and she aims to make that 50 billion by the end of 2023.

Now her most recent product – LastMask x Spray, is an eco-friendly face mask and sanitizer kit to help fight all of the Covid-19 waste. The mask is made three layers – organic cotton, non-woven material and a blended non-absorbent material based on WHO guidelines.

The carry case holds the mask and sanitizer together, and is made of non-toxic BPA-free food grade silicone. The spray is refillable and the head is made out of PP and the bottle out of PETG, both are BPA-free.

Now you can stay protected without sacrificing the environment.
