Influencers Helping During Isolation

Influencers Helping During Isolation

It’s fair to say that globally these are strange times, and every single person has been affected. With tougher self-isolation conditions, the internet has been our link to the outside, and helped keep us connected in disconnected times. Here are our favourite influencers offering tips on health, fitness, recipes, schooling, and all-round entertainment to help keep you motivated in the unknown days that lie ahead.

Fitness influencers to follow

It can be easy to sit lie on the sofa endlessly binging on Netflix box sets, but getting up and moving really will help both your mind and body in these quarantine times. And thanks to the Bodycoach – Joe Wicks, you and your kids can enjoy a 9am PE lesson livestreamed straight to your living room, and get fit along with the other million people taking part.

Similarly, head over to Instagram to take part in Laura ‘Biceps’ Hoggins ‘Stay Strong Workout Series’. Leading live bodyweight workouts from her home, @laurabiceps can help you stay fit, without any gym equipment.

Promoting the power of positivity

We all know that a positive mind can have a powerful impact on your mental well-being. The fashion brand Radley has recently launched their Women of Spirit Wednesday blog. Designed to inspire, the blog speaks with women who are shining examples of women leading their field and bring to light the power of positivity. Knowing the importance of clear guidance, Dr Frankie Jackson-Spence shares her advice on staying safe, and sane during these times. Whilst Melissa Hemsley shares her favourite healthy and wholesome recipes.

If you prefer to listen to podcasts, Fearne Cotton’s ‘Happy Place’ podcast  is a must listen.  In the series Fearne chats to inspiring individuals who have either made a change in their own lives or who help people every day to find a different way of looking at life.

Helping with home-schooling

Let’s not forget that millions of children have been affected by school-closures, and there are plenty of resources out there that are helping.

Carol Vorderman is offering free maths lessons for children with ‘The Maths Factor’. Aimed at primary age children, ‘The Maths Factor’ helps parents (!) and children learn sums through video tutorials and interactive games.

Geography lessons are going on the wild side, with Steve Backshall going live on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. And Dan Snow’s History Hit streaming service is showing documentaries on everything from Jack The Ripper, to 1066, and everything in between for free for 30 days.

Laughter is the best medicine

And because sometimes you have to laugh – otherwise you might cry, there’s a wealth of memes, games, parodies, and all round silliness to get you through these trying times.

If there’s something that connects us all, it’s that we’re all in this together, and that no matter how desperate, laughter can be found, and heard – echoing these empty streets.
