Bread & Butter New ‘Sliced’ Chardonnay from Napa Valley

Bread & Butter New ‘Sliced’ Chardonnay from Napa Valley
Winemaker Linda Trotta believes, ‘A good wine is a wine you like’. This second generation Italian-American winemaker has been making wine for over three decades. Raised in Southern California, she remembers as a young girl that wine bottles were always on the dinner table as her family gathered for a meal. There would be laughter as stories were shared and glasses of wine were sipped.

After high school, she was accepted into UC Davis to study the the science and art behind winemaking. While at school, she traveled to Italy and experienced her first harvest at Santa Margherita Winery in Northern Italy’s beautiful Veneto region. This experience helped her continue her path towards winemaking.

She worked in the wine industry as a winemaker in Sonoma Valley and Washington state before coming back to California to join the Bread & Butter Wines family. Her hard work and talent was recognized in 2018, when the North Bay Business Journal Napa Valley honored her with the award of ‘Winemaker of the Year’ for her delicious, well priced varietals.

While reading how research is indicating that Gen Z are moderating their alcohol intake and are more health-conscious than older generations, Trotta started making approachable wines that slice away at calories, sugar and alcohol, without sacrificing taste and flavor. Her new bright, buttery and balanced 2022 Bread & Butter Chardonnay is aptly nicknamed ‘Sliced” because a 5 fl. oz serving has only 86 calories. The serving has less than 1 gram of sugar and an alcohol by volume of 9%. This is much lower than traditional Chardonnay wines.

On the Bread & Butter Wines website, the 2022 Bread & Butter Chardonnay is priced at $16. This wine goes well during sunset viewing on warm summer nights before a backyard barbecue. Open a bottle to dine al fresco on your patio while enjoying a cheese board with grapes, Niçoise salad, and peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. The appealing tropical fruit notes provide a hint of almond and vanilla with every sip.

‘Sliced’ Chardonnay is just the right balance of moderation to be enjoyed by any wine lover for any occasion.
