Cozy whisky cocktails for winter evenings at home [COCKTAIL TIME]
As dry January comes to a close and those of us in the Northeast are expecting a snowstorm this weekend, our friends at Starward Australian Whisky have pulled together some at-home cozy cocktails to warm up with this winter. Whether your at-home cocktail making skills are beginner or advanced, you will find a libation to fit any experience level.
For the novice cocktail maker: The Down Under

2 oz. Starward Two-Fold
1 oz. Coffee Liqueur
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
8 dashes Orange Bitters
Method:
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass with ice and stir until very cold. Serve straight up and garnish with a lemon twist.
For those looking to up their technique: Melbourne Apple Sour
2 oz Starward Two-Fold Whisky
3/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1/4 oz Simple Syrup
1/2 oz Egg White
Apple Cider, to top
Method:
Combine ingredients except for the apple cider in a shaker without ice. Shake vigorously to whip up the egg whites. Then add ice and shake again until very cold. Double strain into a coupe glass and float apple cider on top.
For the master mixologists looking to wow: Sweater Weather

2 oz Starward Two-Fold Australian Whisky
0.5 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
0.5 oz. Secret Spice syrup*
1.5 oz. Apple Cider
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
2 dashes. Pink Salt Saline Syrup**
Apple slices dipped in grated nutmeg
Method:
Combine all ingredients except Starward and garnish in a saucepan. Heat on very low until simmering. Remove from heat, add Starward and stir to combine. Pour into a heatproof mug, garnish and serve.
*Secret Spice Syrup
2 parts sugar
1 part water
1 pinch Espelette (or Sweet or Smoked Paprika)
1 bay leaf
1 pinch Szechuan & pink peppercorns
1 pinch Aleppo pepper
Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and heat to combine. Let cool, strain spices and store for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
**Pink Salt Saline Syrup
2 parts Pink Himalayan Salt
1 part hot water
Combine both ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine. Cool and use in cocktails.
