Double Gold Medal Winner at 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition: Chicken Cock Whiskey

Chicken Cock Whiskey, one of America’s oldest whiskey brands, is thrilled to announce that its Garden & Gun Single Barrel Selection has been awarded a prestigious Double Gold Medal at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC). Achieving an impressive score of 95, this exceptional recognition further solidifies Chicken Cock Whiskey’s commitment to producing high-quality spirits. We are honored to receive this esteemed accolade and remain dedicated to our tradition of excellence in crafting exceptional whiskey.

Known as one of the most influential spirits competitions in the world, the SFWSC is the oldest and largest competition of its kind. This recognition stands as a true testament to the dedication and exceptional taste, quality, and craftsmanship of Chicken Cock Whiskey.

Created in partnership with Garden & Gun, Chicken Cock Whiskey’s Garden & Gun Single Barrel Selection was inspired by the South and its time-honored traditions. With sapid flavor notes of steeped berries, waffle cones, vanilla beans, and warm baking spices, the Garden & Gun Single Barrel Selection embodies the region’s welcoming hospitality and sporting lifestyle.

“It has the mash bill recipe for bourbon,” explains Chicken Cock Whiskey’s Brand Ambassador Will Woodington. However, due to the American white oak barrel shortage in 2014, the spirit was aged in bourbon barrels for seven years. “Then we finished it in new American white oak barrels to elevate the whiskey to our standards.”

About Chicken Cock Whiskey:

In 1856, James A. Miller established the Chicken Cock Whiskey brand in Paris, KY, after his successful venture producing his celebrated J.A. Miller’s Old Bourbon, which dates back to the late 1830s. In the decades that followed, Chicken Cock Whiskey quickly became a nationally distributed brand that was synonymous with a high-quality reputation and was the first brand in Bourbon County to ship its whiskey internationally.

In 2012, Matti Anttila, Grain & Barrel Spirits CEO, rediscovered the brand and set out to resurrect it to its high-quality reputation and celebrated past. Since then, Chicken Cock Whiskey has become one of the most rapidly-growing whiskey brands with its award-winning Kentucky Straight Bourbon and Kentucky Straight Rye whiskey releases, along with multiple highly sought-after limited releases, which are made in partnership with Bardstown Bourbon Company as part of its collaborative distillation program.
