Regent Seven Seas Grandeur Captivating Culinary Experiences

Regent Seven Seas Grandeur Captivating Culinary Experiences

At the Regent Seven Seas Grandeur signature restaurant, Compass Rose, the exquisite and sparkling dining room designed by Miami-based Studio DADO is inspired by a magical forest. Walking up to the restaurant diners admire a cascading waterfall sculpture made with laser-cut metal and hand-blown glass, imbuing a sense of tranquility.

Inside, the grand dining room is a canopy of interwoven crystal arches and wood-edged illuminated trees. Thousands of individually placed crystal-faceted leaves, encrusting the pillars and branches create one of the most opulent and awe-inspiring dining venues at sea.

White linen tablecloths are set with rose colored chairs with shiny wood backs. The stunning marine theme Versace plates caught my eye. Turning a plate over, I discovered it is part of the posh Rosenthal meets Versace line.  Designed exclusively for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, this Versace design is backed by Rosenthal’s high-quality craftsmanship.

Compass Rose’s appealing multi-course menu can be customized to each diners palate. This includes innovative salads, healthy pastas, and main entrees that include duck and lobster. There are also daily specials and a selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. The portions are just right for diners to enjoy an array of appealing options.

Compass Rose is one of 8 epicurean opportunities onboard the Regent Seven Seas Grandeur. The ship also offers the reimagined steakhouse, Prime 7 designed also by Studio DADO. Inspired by classic New York City steakhouses celebrating modern sophistication, diners enter an alcove of antique leather travel cases. The dining room has a pop of red in the chairs to add excitement.

The menu includes guest favorites that include lump crab cakes, Black Angus Beef steak tartare with truffle-beer bread, succulent jumbo shrimp cocktails, and dry-aged 28 days USDA prime beef steaks from porterhouse to fillet mignon.

Another guest favorite restaurant is Chartreuse by Studio DADO displaying Art Deco glamor of 1930s Paris with inspiration by the Art Nouveau of the Paris Metro. The undulating wall offers an ombre effect, following the lines of the river Seine, that leads diners into the dining room.  The  sophisticated bar is wrapped in leather and topped with marble. This room also offers beautiful sea views.

At the entrance of the pan-Asian restaurant, Pacific Rim, this specialty restaurant has a custom-made bronze and hand-cast glass Bonsai Cherry Tree Sculpture by Savoy Studios. It’s part of the ship’s multi-million-dollar art collection.

Inside Pacific Rim’s dining room, there is an abstract lotus shape among the universal Asian motif.

To complement the stunning décor, Pacific Rim’s chefs created a delicious menu of Pan-Asian creations with dishes such as grilled Korean barbecue lamb chops, wok-fried beans, eryngii mushroom and gochujang dressing.

In the evening La Veranda becomes a tad more formal as it is transformed into the Italian Sette Mari. Inspired by a trip that the Regent culinary team took to Puglia, Italy, the region from which Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations Franco Semeraro and his family enjoyed dishes. The kitchen staff uses centuries old techniques and authentic recipes to create some of the best Italian dishes at sea.

The extensive menu of antipasti and Italian fare is served á la carte and paired with complimentary fine Italian wines. Some of the menu items include a ricotta and parmesan cheese tart with tomato basil sauce; black mussels in a sauce of garlic, chilli flakes, fresh tomatoes, white wine and parsley; and baked zucchini stuffed with slow roasted prime rib, with herbs and parmesan cheese in a tomato sauce.

During the day, take in stunning ocean views while enjoying a customized breakfast and lunch buffet at La Veranda. Tables are set in the light and bright dining room or outside on the shaded, open-air deck. Breakfasts include a made-to-order omelet station, a variety of fresh fruits and pastries, and fluffy Belgian waffles with fresh blueberry compote.
