Hacienda del Mar, Los Cabos is a sun-drenched luxury resort at the ocean’s edge facing east toward Punta Cabeza De Ballena and overlooking the Gulf of California. Located just south of the Tropic of Cancer, warm days, sandy beaches, and ocean breezes are just the beginning here. From the moment you arrive, you’ll find yourself falling naturally in rhythm with the heartbeat of this peninsula paradise. The rich Mexican culture and storied history of Baja, the crashing waves on the beaches, turquoise waters, natural diversity, and the smiling, friendly staff who warmly welcome you to Hacienda del Mar make this place special. But Hacienda del Mar is more than just another luxury resort. It’s the perfect place to focus on health, wellness, and relaxation.

The Resort

The resort, a classic, pristinely manicured oasis, is just about equidistant from the two towns, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, found at the coastal end of the Baja California Sur. The sprawling 11-acre, 19th-century Hacienda-style resort is reminiscent of an exclusive Baja California seaside village, with villas, pathways, and green gardens. The architecture combines traditional Mexican Colonial elements and stylish Mediterranean touches.

The resort is home to six restaurants and five bars, including Pitahayas Restaurant, named after the local pitaya fruit indigenous to the southern Mexican region. Pitahayas is known throughout Los Cabos for its unique culinary offerings. The resort emphasizes its local cultural roots by celebrating key national festivities such as Mexico’s Independence Day and Dia de los Muertos. Hacienda del Mar hosts its annual Cheese and Wine Festival in spring, drawing visitors from throughout the region.

Choose a Couples’ Massage for a Romantic Day

On our recent trip to rest and restore at Hacienda del Mar, we opted for a lovely, romantic couples’ massage. After a few relaxing moments in the sauna, we were escorted to a private room with side-by-side massage tables and soft music playing in the background. Two expertly trained massage therapists gave each of us a 50-minute full-body massage using a soothing herbal balm designed to rest our muscles, improve our skin tone, and increase our blood and lymphatic circulation. Back and front, arms and legs, as well as hands and feet, all benefited from deep tissue pressure by the skilled hands and techniques of the masseuse. The experience provided us with a significant release of physical and mental tension and left us with a feeling of complete relaxation for the rest of the day.

Guests can also engage in Zumba water aerobics in the Activities Pool or pool volleyball for more vigorous exercise. The resort features dozens of walkways throughout the property. Some paths meander along the beachfront, providing a great view, fresh air, and a means to get in some walking exercise.

Why not try the Paint and Sip experience? While one might not define painting and drinking wine as a wellness experience, the activity does take place in the lovely gazebo that overlooks the ocean. We’d call that an exercise in relaxation.
