10 Cars and Experiences to See at the 2022 LA Auto Show
3. Be sure to visit one of the best exhibits to walk through, Subaru of America, Inc. There is a dog adoption area for visitors to give a dog a forever home, plus lots of trees and greenery offering a serene forest experience inside the Convention Center. Check out the 2023 Outback SUV, 2023 Legacy sedan, and the 2022 WRX sports car. Both were recently named a 2022 TOP SAFETY PICK+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
For 2022, Subaru has received an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK award for every model currently available including 2022 Subaru Ascent (TSP for five consecutive years), 2022 Subaru BRZ (with EyeSight) (First year for TSP+), 2022 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid (TSP+ for four consecutive years), 2023 Subaru Legacy (TSP for 17 consecutive years), 2023 Subaru Outback (TSP for 14 consecutive years), 2022 Subaru WRX (with EyeSight) (First year for TSP+) and 2022 Subaru Forester (TSP for 16 consecutive years).
4. Stroll over to Hyundai to check out the Hyundai IONIQ 5, winner of its “Golden Calipers” for SUV of the Year by MotorTrend. IONIQ 5 outpaced a competitive field of 45 all-new or significantly redesigned SUVs, 25 of which were electrified. It stood out from the strong competition with its sharp style, cohesion of details and user experience. “IONIQ 5 winning MotorTrend‘s SUV of the Year speaks to Hyundai’s impressive ability to execute in design, engineering, manufacturing and product development,” said José Muñoz, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor North America. “This is one of the most prestigious awards in the automotive industry and we are honored that IONIQ 5 is recognized for its leading range, power, charging speed, design, interior space and advanced technology.”
5. There are more Electric vehicles (EVs) at the LA Auto Show this year. The VW ID BUZZ got quite a buzz for its nostalgic meets modern design. VW fans flocked to see two creatively designed electric vans/ buses. FUN FACT: Electric cars are easier to manufacture and maintain. There are about 20 moving parts in an EV versus about 2,000 for gas vehicles. Attendees of the show can see and drive to experience a wide array of new EV cars, trucks and SUVs to discover their ease, performance, comfort and practicality.
6. Porsche has its own unique space in Petree Hall. Be sure to see the legendary the 911 Carrera 3.2 4×4 Paris-Dakar (953) on display. It raced in the Dakar Rally, one of the greatest adventures in the world and a challenging test of endurance. With the toughest drivers, this car was a winner in 1984. The new Porsche 911 Dakar is a worthy successor, with the Rally Design Package, it pays homage to the original and brings history to life.
7. Check out the ’67 Mustang by Charge Cars. These reimagined classic American muscle cars have electric drivetrain innovations.
8. Look into the future at the California-based Hyperion exhibit showcasing the capabilities of hydrogen power for zero-emissions vehicles through its XP-1 hypercar. It features a 0–60 mph time of 2.2 seconds and a top speed of 221 mph. The Hyperion XP-1 has 2,038 horsepower, due to its high-performance drive train that is equipped with an axial flux electric motor at each wheel and is estimated to have an impressive 1,000-mile range.
9. Visit the start-ups to industry innovators, educators, students and artists in the atrium and lobby exhibit areas. Students from Art Center Pasadena display their new concept car, an electric olive green Manx. As one of the highest ranked regional Universities, the ArtCenter College of Design prepares artists and designers to create and share their vision with the world.
10. As always, the LA Auto Show is fun for all ages. Families enjoy the pet adoptions at Subaru, the interactive simulators, virtual reality experiences, gaming, scavenger hunt on the LA Auto Show App, car painting classes, and photo moments perfect for Instagram.

Word of advice, get to the show when it opens for fewer crowds of people. The hours are Thursday, Nov. 24: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday Nov. 26: 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
