Birkenstock Collabs Creating Hype In 2023

Birkenstock Collabs Creating Hype In 2023

Love or hate them; there is no denying that Birkenstock has risen in popularity over the last few years and is showing no signs of slowing down. Designed initially as an orthopedic basic, with high-quality arch supports and padded soles many podiatrists will recommend, they have transitioned into a runway-worthy closet staple.

In 2023, the famous footwear brand has continued to team up with several luxurious fashion brands and houses to release some of the biggest collaborations, just in time for summer. So if you haven’t been converted yet, it will take no time at all before you purchase your ideal pair of Birkenstock NZ

Dior

There are very few labels that carry the reputation and name of Dior. They continue to deliver luxury and elegance year after year, confirming their names as one of the biggest brands in fashion. In 2022, they partnered with Birkenstock for the first time, using plush felted wool and calfskin to elevate the Tokio mule and Milano Sandals beyond our wildest dreams.

Despite a price tag nearly $1k more expensive than any mainline style, the drop sold out instantly and proved to be a resounding success both brands would hope to capitalise on yet again.

Dior men’s footwear designer, Thibo Denis, has given fans a sneak preview of what will come this year, taking the same two slip-on designs and transforming them with bold colours and beautiful finishes, including chrome Dior-branded buckles crafted from two luxury fabrics.

Gucci

Gucci has built a reputation for putting out highly sought-after collaborations. The brand understands what customers want and delivers clothing and footwear lines that sell out in seconds. With the ever growing popularity of Birkenstock, it was only a matter of time before these two iconic brands came together to combine comfort and style in the best possible way.

While Gucci has not yet confirmed any firm details, fans spotted a never-before-seen pair of Gucci Birks on Sarah Jessica Parker while the actor was filming scenes for an upcoming series of her hit show. For those familiar with the various styles, the Boston Clogs are on the receiving end of a fashion powerhouse revamp.

Fear of God

At its heart, Birkenstock is a company that prioritises and celebrates ease and comfort throughout its footwear. For many, it aligns perfectly with the LA lifestyle, and Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo seems to agree. He has paired with the German-born brand to create a pair of minimalistic sandals perfect for the nomadic lifestyle similar to his own.

Available in three stunning colours – Taupe, Ash and Cement – the Los Feliz shoe is a wonderful homage to the LA neighbourhood of the same name. It is the ideal addition to any neutral wardrobe pallet, and the basic hues allow for maximum versatility.

Staud

There is a sense of elegance and sophistication that comes with Italian leather. Staud has embraced this preconceived notion to create a stylish and European chic footwear line, highlighting the extravagance of Italian leather with metallic hardware.

It is only available in two styles, the Iconic Arizona and Gizeh sandals, in a wonderful chocolate brown and traditional black, perfectly encapsulating the notion of quality over quantity.

Manolo Blahnik

If you missed the first drop of the Manolo Blahnik x Birkenstock last year, you will be relieved to know that this chic and eye-catching crystal-adorned mule is still available if you are willing to put in the work to find them.

The brand has released a second drop, dedicated to summer, that mimics the elegance and quality that have become known with this luxury shoe brand. You will have to fork out a small fortune, but versatility, comfort and reliability are always guaranteed.

Proenza Schouler

If you love shoes with beautiful details that add the perfect finish to the overall look, the Proenza Schouler collab is going to become a quick favourite. Its usage of practical but beautiful added extras, including contrasting whipstitched trims and velcro fastenings, make a refreshing change from the traditional buckles.

The standard designs and neutral colours have been given a facelift for summer, further moving Birkenstock away from the ‘ugly shoe’ label they have long since left behind.

Rick Owens

The Rick Owens collab with Birkenstock has taken a noticeably less-is-more approach, further simplifying this iconic design. The Owens line has elongated the straps on the famous Arizona style and added a luxurious black-on-black tone for the sportier Rotterdam Sandals.

The casual summer shoe has become even more casual, making it the perfect shoe for the summer months and hotter weather. The neutral black makes it extremely versatile, pairing nicely with jeans, shorts, skirts and dresses alike.

Toogood

Faye Toogood joined forces with Birkenstock to deliver a wonderfully whimsical puffy version of the iconic sandal, available in beautiful hues of bright tones and pastel shades. While the basic design follows the familiar blueprint, the puff detail adds a unique twist and elevates the comfort level further.

To make the most of the beautiful colours, pair them with a neutral outfit to make them the star of the show. Alternatively, if you enjoy clothes with loud expressions, pair them with an equally colourful fit for the ultimate summer palette.
