International Gin & Tonic Day: October 19 [COCKTAIL TIME]

International Gin & Tonic Day (October 19) is just around the corner if you are looking for a new classic to sip on as the weather is getting cooler….why not try Clonakilty Distillery’s Minke Irish Gin! Their G&T recipe is below. 

Minke Irish Gin History

Inspired by the majestic Minke whales of the Atlantic Ocean, Minke Irish Gin is made using various botanicals that grow wild along the shoreline adjacent to Clonakilty Distillery, which has been operated by the Scully family for nine consecutive generations. While in season, members of the Clonakilty Distillery climb the cliff along their shoreline to sustainably harvest the gin’s signature botanical ingredient, Rock Samphire, by hand. For centuries, Rock Samphire has been recognized as a premium garnish and is frequently used at the very best Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, as it is not grown in the United States. 

Minke Irish Gin’s base spirit is whey alcohol produced from cow’s milk directly from the distillery’s family farm, giving the gin a velvety texture and mouthfeel. This spirit is full bodied and flavorful, with notes of lavender, sea salt and juniper. Bottled at 43.2% ABV, Minke Irish Gin boasts an exciting and stimulating flavor profile. Tasting Notes

Nose: Lavender, lemon, lime, sea salt and aniseed.
Palate: Juniper, floral lavender, cardamom, orange and grapefruit.
Finish: Juniper, sea salt, citrus with a hint of fennel.

Minke Gin & Tonic

• Fill a glass with 4 large ice cubes

• Pour 1/3 Minke Irish Gin

• Add 2/3 tonic

• Add two slices of lemon or lime and garnish with a mint leaf
