PHOTO ESSAY: Luxury Dining Aboard Holland America’s Ship the Koningsdam

An evening aboard one of Holland America’s cruise ships is a luxury affair by any standards, but it can be made even more luxurious with elegant experiences at Club Orange or the Pinnacle Grill. The Holland America cruise line is known for its excellent food and superb service, and Club Orange allows guests to enjoy even more luxury benefits. My own dining experiences took place aboard the Koningsdam, one of two ships in Holland America’s line that has begun offering an exclusive Club Orange restaurant for members. Aboard Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam, guests can enjoy exclusive luxury benefits and additional amenities, as well as private dining experiences unique to Club Orange members. Taking inspiration from the Dutch Royal Family, the House of Orange, the food at Club Orange Restaurant certainly attains royal standards.

The interior of the Club Orange Restaurant is bright and modern, featuring comfortable white chairs and crisp white linens accented with pops of orange throughout the room. Clean and comfortable seems to be the focus here, with simple plates letting the elegant food shine.

In the exclusive Club Orange dining area, guests can enjoy the same menu offerings available at other restaurants on board, the Pinnacle Grill menu at breakfast and the Dining Room menu at dinner, while also including additional dishes unique to the Club Orange restaurant.

Pinnacle Grill offers a warm, romantic atmosphere characterized by cozy seating, intimate lighting, and Bvlgari China. Guests can enjoy a quiet dining experience featuring luxury ingredients and unique signature recipes.

Though Pinnacle Grill offers a varied menu including pasta, seafoods, and desserts, the steaks are truly the restaurant’s ‘pinnacle.’ Made with Double R Ranch Northwest beef, you can enjoy numerous cuts of steak with your choice of specialty sauces, even a 36-ounce President’s Cut steak available for an additional charge. Other luxury items round out the menu, including steak tartare, grilled lamb chops, and crab cakes, along with an extensive variety of desserts. No matter what you’re in the mood for, Pinnacle Grill will not disappoint!
