UNICO 20°87° Riviera Maya Is A Luxury Babymoon Destination

Recently while staying at UNICO 20°87° Riviera Maya, part of The Leading Hotel of the World, I noticed the five-star, adult-only resort was filled with couples, and quite a few pregnant women.

Located along the picturesque Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, it’s an ideal luxe venue for couples looking to relax and reconnect before the birth of their baby.

According to Healthline, a babymoon is a short trip or vacation for parents-to-be to unplug and enjoy each other. Similar to a honeymoon, it’s a time to spend away from work and the stress of everyday life.

The trend had grown in popularity, and many obstetricians recommend that mother’s-to-be  take their babymoon during the end of their second trimester up to 27 weeks. By this time most women feel healthier and are overcoming morning sickness.  The second trimester often comes with a boost of energy and women are able to travel comfortably.

“The months following the birth of a new baby are a roller coaster,” it states in the Healthline review. “The point of a babymoon is to enjoy one last hurrah or adventure together.”

Each couple receives two straw hats in their guest room to wear throughout the day. On certain days, the staff set up a complimentary paint decorating table for guests to drop off their hat to have it personalized by a staff artist.

Wide steps lead down to a large lap/plunge pool right from your room. This an an ideal room for pregnant women who feel warm often. The resort offers inflatable pool rafts and rings to float along the shallow pool to stay cool next to your room.
