Caribbean Islands: Planning Your Luxury Vacation
The Caribbean is an ideal destination for your next luxury vacation. With its white sandy beaches, warm weather, and fantastic food, it’s no wonder thousands of people flock to the region every year. If you’re new to the Caribbean we’ve created a list of five tips to pull your trip together in a snap.
Book a Luxury Villa
There is no better way to experience the Caribbean than with a luxury villa rental. Forget the five-star hotel and go straight for the villa. Villas can be rented for as few as three days or as many as several weeks, or months. From private islands to the mainland, villas offer the privacy of home, with all of the upgraded amenities you’re looking for to make the most of your luxury getaway.
There are so many options to consider when renting a villa from private pools, hot tubs, and beachfront views. If you’re looking for a chef’s kitchen or home theater a private villa is the answer.
If you’re traveling with extended family or with a group of friends, a villa can provide the privacy of separate quarters, with the luxury of common areas for everyone to enjoy.
7 Islands to Choose From
There are seven islands to choose from when visiting the Caribbean:
- Greater Antilles (The most the most-visited.)
- Haiti (Port-au-Prince is the capital city.)
- Leeward Islands
- Guadeloupe
- Saint Barthelemy
- Sint Eustatius
- Windward Islands
- Martinique
With a variety of islands to choose from, consider visiting more than one to enjoy the best of what each has to offer. If you’re staying on one of the larger islands, consider taking some day trips by boat or charter flight.
Activity-Filled Adventure
Consider going on an activity-filled adventure to get the most out of your Caribbean vacation. There are plenty of options and you can do them on your own or hire a tour guide. Some island favorites include snorkeling, scuba diving, rainforest hikes, horseback riding, and boat ride island tours.
Staying busy exploring the islands is a must, but don’t forget about taking some downtime and hitting the gorgeous beaches. Just don’t forget the sunscreen!
Dine Like a Local
Caribbean food is more than just Jerk Chicken. Step outside your epicurean comfort zone and dine like a local. Hit some of the smaller local restaurants or hire a private chef to give you a taste of local faire at home. Try dishes like Baigan Choka (Roasted Eggplant), Conch Ceviche, Flying Fish and Cou-Cou, Pineapple Chow or Mofongo.
You can find various restaurants offering different cuisine and dishes, so there’s no excuse not to eat like a native. You’ll find some of the freshest seafood you’ve ever tasted in this area of the world…so eat up!
Be Your Own Tour Guide
Forget the local bus tour and step out on your own. This may seem to be the most obvious one, but it’s worth a mention. You can learn about the culture, history, food, and people directly by walking through the towns and villages. Who better to teach you about their culture and history than those who have been staying there all their lives?
In addition to being more personal and accommodating it allows you to do things at your own pace without having to wait for the rest of a group. You may see things that you would have missed otherwise. Map out the areas of interest before you hit the streets to ensure you know where you’re headed and how to get back safely.
Enjoy!
The Caribbean islands are a paradise indeed. There is something for everyone, from the adventurous to the relaxing. Take a romantic trip with your significant other or travel with a group of family and friends. If the Caribbean is not yet on your vacation bucket list, add it today!
