Luxurious weekend retreats to soothe the moving blues

If you’ve ever bought or sold a house then you’ll appreciate that although on the surface it should be simple, it’s actually one of the most stressful things you can go through. There’s so much uncertainty for starters, plus with such large sums of money involved, there is always going to be anxiety.

One of the worst things that can happen when you’re moving house is for your chain to collapse. This is the worst feeling because all too often it’s completely outside of your control and there is nothing you can do to immediately fix it. When the worst does happen, all you can really do is take a deep breath, accept it for what it is, and move on.

To help you deal with the stress and worry, why not plan a luxury activity to take your mind off it? It might feel frivolous, but it’s so important to take the time to get some perspective and recharge your batteries. We’ve got a few ideas for you.

Head to a spa for the day

When your house chain has fallen through and you need to ease away all of that tension, a spa day could be exactly what you need to relax. You’ll often find that spas will offer discount packages midweek, or last-minute deals in off-peak periods, so it’s worth giving your favorite local luxury spa a call and seeing what they can do for you.

Spend the day chilling out in the sauna, having your stress massaged away, and soaking off all of that house-moving anxiety in the pool. We’re sure you’ll come back to reality feeling more grounded and with a more positive attitude.

Take a luxury cookery class

Cooking is one of those activities that takes you completely out of your head and forces you to be in the moment. You can’t afford to be distracted after all when you’re handling very sharp knives! Working with food is also a reminder of what’s important in life – it takes you back to the fundamentals of eating well and taking care of your body and is a great grounding activity.

Even better, many cookery classes involve eating the food you’ve prepared, often as a group. Chatting to new people over a delicious, luxury meal is very restorative.

Organise a luxury picnic with friends

The appeal of this activity is twofold. Firstly, you get the opportunity to hang out with friends and talk through your woes. This can be hugely beneficial for your mental health and talking to people about the issues you’re having with your house move can be a great way not just to offload but also to identify potential next steps.

Secondly, you get to eat and drink amazing things! Treat yourself to all of your favorites – those cakes you love from the local bakery maybe, or the artisan cheese you normally only get for special occasions. Plus don’t forget a bottle of something fizzy. There is always something to celebrate, even if it’s not yet your successful house move!
