World Whiskey Day (May 18) Cocktail Recipes [COCKTAIL TIME]

Team Whisky or Team Whiskey? If you’re uncertain, whisky refers to Scottish, Japanese, and Canadian grain spirits, while whiskey is used for spirits distilled in America and Ireland. In anticipation of World Whisk(e)y Day, (May 18th) we proudly present a selection of liquid gold from three prominent whiskey-producing countries: Scotland, Ireland, and America. Recipes are below. Enjoy!

Scottish Whisky (aka Scotch):

    • Benriach The Smoky Twelve (46% ABV // SRP: $67.99)

      • Master Blender Rachel Barrie, is just one of a few female head-distillers, who make up just 8% of the industry (according to High-Proof Creative, 2022). She crafted the Smoky Twelve to carry an extraordinarily sweet and smoky flavor that evokes the distillery’s smoke season. Its unique flavor palette was cultivated through selecting and maturing in bespoke oak casks, and creating innovative combinations of bourbon, sherry and Marsala wine – her secret ingredient.

    • The GlenDronach Original Aged 12 Years (43% ABV // SRP: $65.99)

      • Aged in fine Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía, Spain, this richly sherried Highland single malt Scotch whisky presents smooth vanilla, soft fruits and a memorably long, nutty finish, for which it has become renowned.

    • Glenglassaugh Sandend  (50.5% ABV // SRP: $70)

      • Gently matured in the distillery’s coastal warehouses overlooking the rolling surf of Sandend Bay, this expression offers luscious and deep coastal elements. Sandend is matured in bourbon, sherry and manzanilla casks, bringing forward flavors of tropical sweetness with a touch of sea salt.

Irish Whiskey:

    • Proper No. Twelve (40% ABV // SRP: $24.99)

      • The fastest-growing Irish Whiskey… ever! A smooth blend of triple-distilled malt and grain whiskey aged for four years in bourbon barrels, delivers a delicious taste with hints of vanilla, honey-like sweetness and toasted wood. For each case of Proper No. Twelve sold, five dollars is donated to First Responder organizations worldwide, adding up to $1 million annually.

    • Glendalough Double Barrel Whiskey (SRP: $34.99)

      • This globally awarded, single grain whiskey has been aged twice – first in American oak Bourbon barrels and again in Spanish oak Oloroso Sherry barrels. Glendalough Double Barrel’s whiskey has tasting notes of dark fruit, cherry, raisin and fig. While the Bourbon barrels bring a sweetness and smooth vanilla notes, the Oloroso casks layer on depth of dried fruit and Spanish oak spices. It is recommended to be served neat, on ice, with soda or in a delicious cocktail.

American Whiskey:

  • BSB Flavored Whiskey (70% ABV // SRP: $24.99)

    • Blame it on the Alcohol BSB Whiskey! Helmed by Jamie Foxx and WES Brands, BSB Whiskey is an ultra-smooth flavored whiskey that perfectly blends the aromatic spice of cinnamon with the rich, comforting sweetness of brown sugar. Embodying the essence of bolder, stronger and better, Brown Sugar Blend’s 70-proof liquid comes in new packaging that is as innovative as the whiskey itself. The sleek, matte black bottle proudly wears a “BSB” chenille letter patch on its chest that glows in the dark, designed to captivate and intrigue.

  • Fraser & Thompson Whiskey (42% ABV // SRP: $29.99)

    • A smooth and approachable first for the whiskey category was founded by Grammy-winning, multi-platinum superstar Michael Bublé. Fraser & Thompson is expertly crafted by award-winning Master Distiller and Blender, Paul Cirka, who hand-selects aged liquid to blend into an inviting whiskey, with sweet fig and blood orange on the nose, and a subtle finish of caramel, vanilla, and a hint of spice. Fraser & Thompson is blended and bottled in Bardstown, Kentucky.

  • Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (45.2% ABV // SRP $34.99)

    • A spectacle for the senses. Woodford Reserve is built around flavor. The art of making fine bourbon first took place on the site of the Woodford Reserve Distillery, a National Historic Landmark, in 1812. The perfectly balanced taste of our Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is composed of more than 200 detectable flavor notes, from bold grain and wood, to sweet aromatics, spice, and fruit & floral notes. Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is 45.2% ABV and is created at the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Versailles, KY.
