CES 2024: Laptop Security For Working-On-the-Go Just Got Biometric Thanks to Shark Tank Alum BenjiLock

When Robbie Cabral and BenjiLock went on ABC’s “Shark Tank” in 2017 to introduce itself and its now award-winning biometric padlock technology, it was also entering into an interesting market where biometric locks were just starting to be a “thing.” But after capturing the attention of Kevin O’Leary, who then invested $200,000 in exchange for 15 percent of the company, to help further develop and scale the company, it has surpassed its initial retail success as a global brand and driver of biometric security.

Whether you’re working remotely from shared working spaces, airports, coffee shops, conferences, and/or other public spaces, did you know that a laptop is stolen every 53 seconds?

According to TechLok, a Michigan-based computer accessory company, approximately 1 in 10 identity theft cases are directly linked to stolen laptops, and where better to showcase modernized solutions for advanced laptop and tablet security than at this year’s 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas? The four-day annual global trade show showcased more than 300,000 exhibitors and attracted 135,000+ attendees.

TechLok Solutions, a Michigan-based computer accessory company, debuted the latest upgraded version of its flagship product and anti-theft device, LapLok, in partnership with the Shark Tank alum and five-time CES Innovation Award honoree. The anti-theft device is a “lightweight, durable, portable solution” and compact design solution for on-the-go professionals, offering dual functionality to protect consumer laptops and bags from grab-and-go thieves.

“When I learned of [Cabral’s] innovation, I wanted to include his biometric fingerprint technology on LapLok to offer a next level of personal tech security that’s easy to use, affordable, and offers one-of-a-kind protection against theft wherever you are using your laptop or table in the world,” said Ryan Angott, co-founder of TechLok.

The LapLok x BenjiLock collaboration, which debuted at CES 2024 “Unveiled,” is primarily focused on the laptop ecosystem, integrating BenjiLock’s proprietary, TSA-accepted biometric fingerprint technology as an added layer of security for laptops and tablets – especially for those who work-on-the-go.

“As a travel accessory, TechLok will introduce a co-branded version of our acclaimed BenjiLock Travel Sentry TSA-approved biometric padlock, providing peace of mind to travelers on the go with our award-winning patented solution,” said Cabral ahead of its CES 2024 debut on January 7.

TechLok elevates its 2024 product lineup by incorporating BenjiLock’s TSA-accepted fingerprint padlocks-an essential accessory that seamlessly blends innovation with style.

So, how does the company’s flagship product work with its new BenjiLock integration? It now features an intelligent password management system for enhanced security and password recovery capabilities that provide access to the LapLok by simply pressing your finger or thumb on the biometric pad. Of course, it also supports multiple fingerprints/users for more personalized security.

The company was also recently awarded “Favorite Padlock Design” by Travel Sentry for its TSA biometric padlock, a standalone accessory in TechLok’s product offerings, which currently retails for $39.99 USD. TechLok’s flagship biometric, patented anti-theft device currently retails at $124.99 USD., while its baseline LapLok device retails for $99.95.
