Rockstar Jon Bon Jovi and son Jesse Create Hampton Water Rose’ Wine

While staying overnight at Casa Cody in Palm Springs recently, I learned that during the last Wednesday of the month, the staff celebrates Wine Wednesday. The charming boutique hotel opens their favorite wine of the month and pours complimentary glasses to guests from 5 to 7 p.m.

Guests gather in the lobby to enjoy a glass of wine with a plate of pre-dinner appetizers. On the counter was a plate of crudités, crackers and cheese, slices of meats fresh fruit.  During other days of the week, guest can purchase wine and food from the hotel’s Marketplace to enjoy in their room or out on one of the bistro tables or under an umbrella on lounge chairs.

I learned from the staff that the wine they were pouring was Jon Bon Jovi’s Hampton Water Rose’ wine. The legendary singer of the iconic rock band Bon Jovi, got into the wine business a few years ago with his son, Jesse Bongiovi.

When Jon Bon Jovi is not on tour, he enjoys sharing a bottle of ‘pink juice’ or rose’ wine with family and friends at his home in the Hamptons. Jesse calls rose’ wine ‘Hampton Water,’ because it is so popular to drink during the summer. One night as the father and son were enjoying a glass, and living their life to the fullest, they came up with a dream to start a wine company. Together with co-founder Ali Thomas, they created the full concept of Hampton Water wine brand, and flew to the South of France to meet famed French winemaker, Gerard Bertrand. They hired him to make a premium rosé French wine with a Hampton’s laidback style.

It’s fresh and lively made with a blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvèdre and Syrah grapes. Offering a pleasing ripe strawberry essence on the nose, this dry rose’ aged in French oak barrels has hints of cherry, watermelon and balanced acidity with a touch of minerality and long finish.

Jesse designed the sleek bottle with a clever glass cap and glass cork. There is no need for a bottle opener. He also included a strawberry on the glass bottom as a nod to the rip summer strawberry tasting notes. The bottle’s eye-catching label features three hues of blue water, an orange sun, and an athletic, strong and graceful female diver diving as the sun sets.

The company supports two organizations that share the same values of giving back to those in need. They partner with the Pink Agenda raising money for breast cancer research and care. Since 2022, Hampton Water has donated over $25,000 to improve the lives of those suffering from breast cancer. To date, The Pink Agenda has raised nearly $6 million.

The second organization ‘It Gets Better Project’ has a mission to uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) youth around the globe. To date Hampton Water has donated over $10,000 to further their efforts.

This son and father business of making quality rose’ wine has been receiving awards that include four consecutive 90-point ratings from Wine Spectator, and a coveted place on both the Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast Top 100 lists.
