7 Types Of Perfume Scents Worth Knowing About

There are five distinct varieties of perfume. Parfum, eau de parfum, eau de toilette, eau de cologne, and eau de fraiche are the five most frequent types of perfumes. The major distinction between these five perfume types is in their fragrance oil concentration.

1. Parfum

Parfum is the most expensive perfume type because it has the highest fragrance oil concentration. Because of this, parfum remains the most costly of the perfume types. Parfum usually comprises around 15% to 40% fragrance oil concentration; as a result, it is heavier, more powerful, and greasier than other varieties.

2. Eau De Parfum

Eau de parfum is a perfume that has a fragrance oil concentration of 10% to 15%. As a result, they have less oil and more alcohol and water than parfum.

3. Eau De Toilette

The fragrance concentration of eau de toilette is usually between 4% and 15%. Due to its lighter fragrance oil concentration and high alcohol content, this lighter fragrance perfume is commonly delivered in a spray bottle.

4. Eau de Cologne

Eau de cologne is intended to be a lighter version of a particular scent. It began as a lighter variant of a fragrance, but it has evolved into more of a male scent over time. However, there are some female fragrance oils offered as eau de cologne. The majority of eau de Cologne consists of 2% to 5% fragrance oil.

5. Eau De Fraiche

The least expensive, least concentrated, and most widespread of the perfume sorts is eau de fraiche, also known as fragrance water. Eau de fraiche is generally made with 1% to 3% fragrance oil concentrations.

7 different types of scents

In the world of fragrances, there are seven distinct categories. Whether you’re a fan of Hugo Boss,  Lancôme, or Escada perfume, picking one becomes much easier. We’ll go through the major sorts of fragrances as well as our favourite goods in each area.

Escada perfume

1. Woody

Woody scents are reminiscent of strolling through the California redwoods or sitting around a campfire, and they have a scent that smells like the outdoors—but they may be very hot. If you enjoy the aroma of wet asphalt (which is known as petrichor), you’ll probably appreciate a woody fragrance.

2. Citrus

Citrus fragrances are typically crisp and clean, with notes of lemon, grapefruit, orange, and bergamot. They’re cooling, like a Pamplemousse La Croix on a hot summer day.

3. Gourmand

Gourmand fragrances are one of the most divisive categories, with fans and haters alike. That’s because they’re sweet—a decent gourmand fragrance will be almost but not quite cloying and powdery. Consider using fragrances that smell like crème brûlée. Vanilla, chocolate, burnt sugar, and caramel are some of the most popular scents.

4. Floral

Floral fragrances are unabashedly romantic, like a Spotify playlist of Boyz II Men in scent form. They’re flirtatious and feminine, and while some floral scents are all-out immersive, others have fruity nuances for a sparkling, fun effect.

5. Fruity

Fruity scents, which are reminiscent of scorching summer days, include notes such as cherry, pear, and watermelon. Sweet orris is a flower-based variant that smells like cinnamon when burnt. The finest ones never become cloying, and they can range from jolly to sophisticated in accordance with the other aromas present in

6. Spicy

Spicy fragrances, to be honest, have a provocative air. Cardamom, incense, and pepper are typically warm, passionate notes. This is the perfume one would wear if they wanted to feel intriguing.

7. Aquatic

The scent of lemons reminds me of drinking limoncello on the beach in Positano or reading a paperback novel by the water. Aquatic scents, as the name implies, are characterized by notes such as algae, salt, and fresh sea air.
