Celebrating Dad on Father’s Day

Celebrating Dad on Father’s Day

There are so many traditional ways to celebrate fathers on their special day, but during these difficult days of sheltering at home and avoiding personal contact, special gifts for Dad can come in many ways.

Roses for Dad

For example, flowers are usually sent to women, but a new study by Bloom & Wild has shown that keeping flowers around the home can reduce stress and anxiety. So how about sending Dad a gorgeous bouquet of roses, which produce wonderful mood-boosting endorphins? Or a fragrant lavender plant for the bedroom, to lower the heart rate and promote sleep?

Prosecco from Mionetto

If you can’t celebrate Dad in person, try a virtual Zoom-assisted toast with something bubbly—like a refreshing bottle of Prosecco from Mionetto. The Prosecco can be enjoyed “straight” or in a delicious cocktail like the iconic Bellini (the necessary peach puree is available on Amazon and other websites).

Mionetto offers a number of options at affordable price points, including petit minis. There’s a Prestige Brut at $14 for the 750 ml and $4 for the 187 ml Mini); the Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore at $19 and the luxurious Mionetto Luxury Cartizze DOCG at $40. This last splurge option is crisp, well-balanced and elegant on the palate. It has a majestic multi-faceted bouquet that releases impressions of apple and pear alongside notes of citrus and glazed almond.

Mixed Beer Gift Box Set

If Dad is a beer aficionado, a perfect choice would be a gift box from Tavour, holding a selection of highly rated samples. The gift boxes of mixed beers come in two sizes, at $35 and $99, depending on how many items are included. Shipping is free and each box has a little bit of everything: IPAs, Saisons, Wild Ales, Imperial Stouts and more.

Hand Washing Gear

Most of all you want to keep Dad safe during the pandemic, so to remind him of the importance of frequent hand washing, send a few of Spongellé’s new soap-infused sponges from the Hand Defense Line. Each buffer sponge is good for more than 40 washes—and is more effective at removing germs and dirt than soap alone. The patented infusion technology is made with a “silk and scruffy” texture to ensure proper scrubbing on all surfaces of the hands, thoroughly cleansing critical areas like the cuticle and around nail edges. Another critical aspect of proper hand-washing can be generalized under ‘friction’ or scrubbing, so while the soap is interacting with germs and dirt, the sponges create adequate friction to build lather and physically dislodge items bound to the skin.

The buffer sponges also have Tea Tree and Thyme Oil known for their anti-bacterial properties. Though cleansing is most important, the sponges are kind to the hands. They come in four scents: Renew, Revive, Rejuvenate and Refresh. At $14 each, they are also available in an assorted four pack for $56.

The dermatologist-tested sponges are recyclable, cruelty-free and vegan-friendly.

Air Travel Must Have

To complement the hand-washing, it’s also important to keep surfaces clean—and if Dad is going out, to kill harmful organisms in the air. PlaneAire Surface & Air Purifying Travel Mist is a plant-based organic antibacterial/antiviral mist spray. With documented antibacterial and antiviral laboratory results, it can continue to kill for multiple hours. Lab-proven to kill 99% of harmful bacteria, it continues to kill for multiple hours.

Although designed for travel (and available at seven airports across the country), it is ideal for everyday use in the air, on surfaces and even on the hands to erase bacterial history someone else leaves behind.  $14.99 (450 sprays in a bottle)

PlaneAire® is made from a potent blend of six certified organic essential oils (peppermint, lemon, oregano, rosemary, thyme and lavender), a powerful proprietary organic fruit acid compound, and purified water. Nothing else.

Happy Father’s Day!
