Choosing a Luxury Engagement Ring

Choosing a Luxury Engagement Ring

Choosing an engagement ring is one of the most exciting parts of an engagement. A signature piece that defines the love and personality of the recipient, and the couples life-time commitment to each other. Here are some tips on how to select the ideal luxury engagement ring and put a smile on the face of your loved one for a long time to come.

Make Sure it’s Certified

When investing in a luxury engagement ring it is important to make sure that it’s certified. Given the financial investment, you want to be sure that you are getting a gemstone of caliber. The jeweler should be accredited and when all is said and done, defining the value for insurance purposes will be seamless.

Consider the Carat Size

Bigger is always better when it comes to the engagement gemstone! The carat size, color, and clarity of the stone are all important considerations. When budget isn’t a consideration…higher quality, clarity and size of the stone doesn’t matter. This is especially true for rings with diamonds, which are the most popular center stones at 86%. They’re followed by other precious stones at just 10%, colored diamonds at 3%, and not having a center stone at all, which makes up 1% of rings.

Get the Measurements Right

This may sound obvious, but it’s important to make sure that the will be the right fit. Adjusting a ring after it has been set, can interfere with the overall look of the piece, not to mention no one wants to be separated from their engagement ring…even if only for a few days! The ring should be snug but comfortable.

Find the Right Metal

Don’t forget to think about the metal in which your stone will be set. There are a plethora of metals to choose from. Whether you like the old-fashioned standard platinum or a new classic, of rose gold, consider how the metal will enhance and compliment the stone and the setting.

Be Sustainable

Finally, be sure to purchase an engagement ring from an ethically-sourced jeweler. This means that the ring is made of ethically-sourced materials and was put together using fair labor. Whether you would like to purchase a ring with a mined stone, or one that is man-made, consider the environment and business practices that go into producing the product. Consider the jeweler when purchasing any item and when you are considering a diamond or Moissanite, look for a 10 on the Mohs scale.
