Hawaii: Escape the Hustle & Bustle of Everyday Life

Looking for an idyllic beach vacation? It is hard to beat Hawaii as one of the most beautiful places on Earth and somewhere that is synonymous with leisure and relaxation. Hawaii is the perfect place to beat the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but there is much more to it than just beautiful beaches and palm trees.

Hawaii is an archipelago about 2,000 miles from the US mainland with 137 volcano islands that span around 1,500 miles. There are 8 main islands that people tend to visit, which includes Hawai’i – this is often called Big Island to avoid confusion. Two-thirds of the popular live on Oahu, which is also where the capital city of Honolulu is located.

Geology

The geology of Hawaii is what makes it such a beautiful paradise and the perfect place to escape the stress of daily life. The islands were formed from volcanic activity and this has created stunning geological features throughout. In addition to the imposing volcanoes, Hawaii is also known for its fauna and flora that adds plenty of colour and life to the islands. While you can relax on Hawaii’s many beaches, the islands also provide the perfect destination for a hiking trip.

So, where are the best places to visit in Hawaii?

Maui

Maui is the place to be if you want to try water sports and/or enjoy a whale-watching experience. The island contains many of the finest beaches in Hawaii and has a cool waterfront town with plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes to check out.

Kauai

If you are looking for places to hike then you are spoilt for choice on Kauai. This amazingly fertile island is referred to as the “Garden Isle” thanks to its greenery and rainforest that covers most of the land.

The Big Island

The Big Island covers twice the size of all of the other islands combined, so you can be sure that there is plenty here to explore. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is the main attraction with amazingly diverse scenery, including desert, rainforest and even arctic tundra.

Lana’l

Those seeking luxury will find Lana’l to be the ideal spot with luxury resorts, picturesque beaches and breathtaking scenery. Also known as “Pineapple Island” thanks to its history as a major exporter, Lana’l is also one of the best places for swimming and snorkelling.

Molokai

Molokai is often seen as the most authentic island with fewer tourist resorts and the highest percentage of Native Hawaiians. This will make it the most appealing to many and it is certainly worth a visit with its own atmosphere and feel.

If you are seeking an idyllic holiday destination, it is hard to beat Hawaii and this post should give you a few ideas of what to do here.
