IZO Spirits Mezcal Now Available at Select Total Wine Stores

IZO Spirits aims to share the authentic flavor of a traditional handcrafted Mexican mezcal with the world. The brand has eight agave spirits to choose from: the IZO Mezcal Joven 47%, Tequila Extra Añejo Cristalino, Mezcal Reposado Cenizo, Mezcal Joven Ensamble, Sotol Dasylirion, Bacanora Silver, Mezcal Añejo Cenizo, and Sotol Reposado. 

The process begins when the spirits are harvested by hand from wild-grown agave from Durango, Sonora, and Jalisco, Mexico. Each bottle is pure-distilled and comes in a trademark black onyx ombre bottle sourced from Durango. They make a chic addition to display in your bar cart.

IZO aims to keep sustainability a priority. They sustainably source oak logs from fallen trees to cover the bottom of the lava pit used to smoke the agave. After the agave hearts are ground up, they set aside the fibrous material to be reused in lava pits or as bedding for local livestock.

IZO Sotol is distilled from the Mexican “Desert Spoon” plant that takes 15 years to mature. It has a hint of sweetness from the piñas that come from the heart of the plant. The spirit is slow-roasted and slow-distilled for a smooth, clean taste with aromatic notes of rosemary, chamomile, orange, blossom, rue, and desert grass. Available in the 750 ml size at 47% Alcohol By Volume.

IZO Mezcal Joven has aroma notes of banana and green apples. Available in the 750 ml size at 47% Alcohol By Volume. Both go down smooth and have a subtle smokiness to them thanks to the way the sotol and agave hearts are roasted in the fire pits. Pair them with lime, freshly squeezed juice, or muddled fruit like strawberries or pomegranate. You can taste the attention-to-detail and care these mezcals are made with.
