Maestro Dobel Tequila & Studio Onora Dinner at Wally’s

Maestro Dobel Tequila & Studio Onora Dinner at Wally’s

Last week I was invited to a Maestro Dobel Tequila unveiling at Wally’s Beverly Hills. My fondness for the creators of the world’s first Cristalino tequila started earlier this year, when American tennis player Taylor Fritz played at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. Making an appearance inside the elegant Maestro Dobel Tequila pavilion, he chatted with journalists and fans, before making an “Ace Paloma” cocktail.

Named the official tequila cocktail of the BNP Paribas Open, it’s made with Maestro Dobel Diamante, simple syrup, fresh lime juice, fresh grapefruit juice, and fever-tree grapefruit soda.

In Beverly Hills, the luxury tequila brand collaborated with Mexico City based Studio Onora to produce uniquely shaped glass collectible bottles with handcrafted stoppers. These beautiful clear bottles with a dark wood top pay homage to the traditional art form of Laca de Olinala’.

Master artisan Adolfo Escudero García from the village of Olinalá was the guest of honor at Wally’s Beverly Hills. He understands and appreciates the significance of preserving traditions and carrying on a legacy, just like Maestro Dobel Tequila.

Garcia handcrafted 2000 exquisite etched and hand-lacquered bottle tops for Dobel 50 Cristalino’s unique series. Using the finest quality wood in Olinalá, a region known for being one of the most important centers of lacquer production in Mexico, these bottle tops are a piece of art and a collector item.

Admiring Adolfo’s art pieces and talking to the artist during the dinner was Academy Award winning Producer, Director and Writer Alejandro González Iñárritu.

Dobel 50 Cristalino bottles were on display at Wally’s during the release dinner. Throughout the evening courses were paired with tequila cocktails and tastings.

Creating the world’s first Cristalino tequila offering exceptional smoothness was the work of 11 generations. Their tequila making legacy was introduced to the American market in 2009. Maestro Dobel 50 is an ultra-premium, smooth and complex Extra Añejo Cristalino tequila. This spirit was created by founder Juan Dobel using thoughtful techniques and contemporary methods from family secrets passed down for generations.

Tasting notes include fig, quince, date, pineapple and pumpkin, with a hint of cinnamon, vanilla and clove with a long and pleasing finish.
