Pursuit Spirits Expands Distribution to Ohio

Pursuit Spirits, founded by the creators of the highest ranking whiskey podcast, Bourbon Pursuit, announces distribution of Pursuit United Bourbon and Pursuit United Rye in Ohio. The launch coincides with the 2022 Pursuit Road Trip tour where enthusiasts can engage and purchase bottles in five different markets starting September 20th. 

As a leading spirits market, Ohio Liquor actively seeks out rare, premium, and small batch spirits sought-after by Ohioans. “Our main goal is to create an attractive marketplace for suppliers of high-proof spirits, and Ohio is certainly booming in the whiskey category,” said Jim Canepa, Superintendent of the Ohio Division of Liquor.  “We are thrilled that Pursuit Spirits has chosen to be a part of Ohio’s thriving and exciting bourbon environment.”

Ohio is the fourth largest domestic whiskey market in the US (behind CA, TX, and FL) and sold over 1.375M cases of American Whiskey in 2021. “Ohio Liquor’s unique public/private partnership helps to make Ohio an attractive market for products that have been around for generations to those that are newer,” said Lorraine Terry, Managing Director, JobsOhio Beverage System.  “Pursuit Spirits is another example of OHLQ’s ability to attract and list new products that Ohioans want.”

Pursuit United Bourbon took home the overall best bourbon at the Spring 2022 John Barleycorn Awards and Pursuit United Rye won double gold at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. “Ohio means a lot to me,” says Kenny Coleman, Co-founder of Pursuit Spirits. “I was born in Ohio, most of my family still lives in Ohio, and a significant portion of podcast listeners are from major markets in Ohio. It took us a few years to get here and I am looking forward to connecting with more whiskey enthusiasts across Ohio.”

To kickstart distribution across the state, Pursuit Spirits and Ohio Liquor will host six regional events in Toledo, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati where enthusiasts can sample Pursuit United Bourbon and Pursuit United Rye while getting the chance to meet Kenny Coleman and Ryan Cecil. Bottle sales will begin at the start of the event and will be available until sold out.
