Aja Malibu: A Holistic Mountain Retreat
If you’re looking for a luxurious, peaceful getaway where you can re-center yourself, look no further than Aja Malibu. The spa opened in June 2016 and this retreat promises the opportunity to explore your inner self and the “magick” all around you. Located in the Malibu Mountains on 23 ocean-view acres, Aja Malibu is a luxury-boutique mountain retreat for the health and wellness-seeking connoisseur.
Aja incorporates deep earth wisdom with ancient wisdom teachings from around the world to create its signature residential programme, “The Magick Process. ™” This immersive mind-body-spirit tune up and restorative cleanse is designed to support the re-alignment and balancing of the body’s seven energy systems known as ‘chakras,’ and reconnect people to the beauty, magick and mystery of life. Aja Malibu is a lifelong dream for its owner, Australian mystic and artist Inannya Magick, who spent seven years transforming the property into the ‘Garden of Eden’ sanctuary it is today. With seven guest rooms, seven gardens and a seven-night offering, Aja is a haven unlike any other.
Aja’s holistic focus harnesses the wisdom of ancient cultures and earth wisdom. These are incorporated in the plant-based cuisine, rituals and ceremonies and the healing spa therapies at Aja. All of these foods and rituals utilize biodynamically homegrown herbs, as well as a combination of flower, color, light, sound and crystal therapies that support optimum energetic alignment and an overall feeling of wellness. In addition to the seven themed chakra gardens, Aja also hosts a fun apothecary room where guests can play and make their own herbal golden elixirs. Guests can enjoy DIY bath-body-beauty workshops that empower women and men alike to utilize everyday plants that are easily and readily accessible. The emotional wellness aspect of “The Magick Process” aims to guide guests through the notion that “The Guru is You,” a self-empowerment process to support meaningful thought patterns, which lead to optimum levels of well-being.
Aja is devised to be a ‘home with a heart’ rather than just a hotel. The attention to artisan detailing includes walls and walkways embedded with thousands of crushed rose quartz crystals, so as to channel the energy of the heart and blessings. Aja is filled with auspicious statues and artifacts collected from the owner’s pilgrimages throughout North Africa, Nepal, Peru, Indonesia, India and the Australian Outback, all with fascinating stories to tell. Every detail of the interior has been made with holistic consciousness, including the use of natural reclaimed FCS-certified timbers, sustainable cooling systems, solar-powered radiant heat, organic sheets, towels and robes and all-natural, hypo-allergenic and dust mite free mattresses.
All shampoos, conditioners and soaps are natural, toxin-free and compatible with the resort’s grey water system; this means all bath and shower water is recycled for use in the garden, and everything is cleaned with chemical-free products made on site by Aja’s herbalist. You can feel completely safe knowing the extensive lengths Aja has gone to provide a non-toxic environment for the most discerning holistic-minded guest who is seeking the finest holistic experience.
While dining, you will experience one of the most nutrient dense, high vibrational diets on the planet: a live, plant-based, biodynamic garden to table cuisine. These concepts are combined to form ‘The Aja Chakra Tune Up Diet,’ a low glycemic, gluten-, wheat- and dairy-free, low nut-based program that supports a cleanse and detox, whilst providing high level nutrient saturation for your body. Some of the results may include mental clarity, weight loss, improved mood, skin clarity, brighter eyes and improved sleep. Aja’s artisan menu is lovingly harvested on-site from the property’s vegetable and medicinal herb gardens, which are also the bases for Aja’s herb-infused olive oils, vinegars, green powders, herbal salt blends, sauerkraut and herbal infused glycerites. The Aja mantra “hand made with heart” is evident in its food, the quality of which is not available in stores. Special tours with the chef will teach about the edible flowers and herbs that grow in the garden and are used in the cuisine, also inspiring what you can grow in your own garden. Tours and food will change seasonally.
Each day, you will participate in a mix of wisdom workshops, tea ceremonies, edible garden tours, experiential nature exercises, fire and moon ceremonies, meditation and hikes in the local canyons.
