Calamigos Guest Ranch, Beach & Wine Tasting

Calamigos Guest Ranch, Beach & Wine Tasting

Years ago, I celebrated my marriage at a beach-theme wedding in Malibu, CA. Recently I learned that the restaurant we held our wedding reception was taken over by the Gerson Family and is now part of their Calamigos Guest Ranch. It’s located within a twelve minute drive of the Calamigos Ranch and is situated across the beach and within steps of popular hiking trails.

About 90 minutes for LAX, the bucolic guest ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains is located in Malibu’s Wine Country. The Ranch offers over 50 free standing eco-friendly accommodations on 250-acres with a sprinkling of cottages, bungalows and celebratory estate rooms.

Calamigos Guest Ranch also offers several outdoor venues including massages in the vineyard; surfing and paddle boarding down at the beach, nature walks and movie nights on the great lawn.

Once the land of the Chumash natives, the word Calamigos means “Come As My Brother, Come as My Friend”. These were the first words that founder J. Grant Gerson heard in 1937, when he was welcomed with his young family to these same sacred grounds where Calamigos Ranch exists today.

All the accommodations are private, cozy, and intimate spaces to rest, renew and rejuvenate. Located within the undisturbed nature of The Ranch, these eco-safe accommodations are the gold standard for sustainable luxury.

The Premium private cottage is designed with warm honey maple wood ceilings, a spacious built-in king size Walker Bed made in North Carolina, soft body pillow and fluffy duvet. There is a private courtyard leading to an outdoor shower, and a private seating area under a canopy of native oak trees.

The serene pool area at the ranch offers shabby shabby chic cushions and pillows to sit back, sip a glass of wine and enjoy the California sunshine.
