Flying Affordable Avelo Airlines
I first heard about Avelo Airlines while sipping wine at a Santa Rosa winery. The owner of the winery excitedly talked about how Southern Californians can fly from the smaller Burbank/Hollywood airport up to wine country for a base price of $39 each way.
Avelo flies to other exciting and beautiful destinations too, including Eugene, Oregon; Las Vegas, Nevada; Salt Lake City, Utah; and six different cities in Florida including Fort Lauderdale. The routes appeal to National Park enthusiasts, wine aficionados, skiers, beach goers and anyone looking to save money.
Even though the airports that Avelo Air flies into are smaller, their planes are comfortable, clean and fuel-efficient. They are the next-generation Boeing 737 aircraft.
It was started by a group of highly seasoned airline executives who wanted to build an affordable and different airline that was convenient and more caring to travelers. The Founder, Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy was previously a co-founder and president of Allegiant Air and chief financial officer at United. He is also a board member of Copa, the leading Latin American airline. The Chief Operating Office is Greg Baden who has over 40 years and 20,000 + hours as a commercial pilot leading flights at Allegiant Air, Delta and Northwest.
When you purchase a ticket, click on the travel days you desire and click Search. There is usually just one Avelo flight a day. Type in a promotion code to save even more money. Fill in some information about yourself and select a seat. The price increases a bit based on your seat selection depending on legroom and location. Carry on luggage and checked bags cost an additional $40 per bag. Priority boarding is another $10 fee and if you want to bring your furry best friend in a soft carrier that is an additional $95.
