Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room is now open and offering a unique experience
Since 2014, people have come to love the unique and authentic taste of the bourbon made by family-owned Ironclad Distillery Co. Now, a decade into the family business, they have expanded to open a notable bed and breakfast where people can enjoy bourbon tasting. To innovate their brand, the company purchased the historic Kenmore Inn, renaming the venture the Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room.
“We are now open and ready to serve our guests,” said Stephen King, founder and president of Ironclad Distillery Co. and the Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room. “We have much to offer in this unique experience and can’t wait to give travelers and bourbon enthusiasts something different to enjoy.”
Imagine sipping bourbon on a historic southern porch that is relaxing and charming. There’s also a bedroom to later retreat to that provides an authentic fireplace from the 18th century. This bed and breakfast is for those who want to experience a laid-back and relaxing pace of life for a bit. Sit, sip, relax, and enjoy the Fredericksburg area and all that the bed and breakfast has to offer.
Charming sitting areas, full accommodations, southern breakfast items, and bourbon tastings and cocktails are all in one place when people stay at the new Ironclad Inn & Bourbon Tasting Room. Nine rooms accommodate overnight guests, some located in the historic home’s original area and others in the 1930s addition. A central bourbon tasting room brings guests together, giving them a place to mingle and enjoy a nightcap comfortably.
The three-story building also has a walled garden patio area to accommodate special events. Whether hosting a corporate party, wedding reception, or other special event, there are options and packages for up to 120 guests. The historic home offers two bourbon tasting rooms, serving the locally beloved bourbon made by Ironclad Distillery Co.
“Once you walk through this place, you can’t help but love it,” added King. “And once you try our bourbon, you can’t help but love it as well. The historic home and our great bourbon go hand-in-hand. It doesn’t get any better than a bed, breakfast, and bourbon.”
The company was started in the Port of Newport News, Virginia, by Stephen King, Owen King, and Kara King. The distillery is situated within view of the most famous Civil War naval battle between the first ironclad ships. The company was named Ironclad Distillery Co. after the location. Each batch of authentic bourbon is fermented, distilled, and bottled under one roof.
The Kenmore Inn, located in historic downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia, was built circa 1793. The new Ironclad Inn& Bourbon Tasting Room offers nine residential rooms to choose from, each with a bourbon bar cart. The main bedrooms are in the 18th century and provide traditional beds, original fireplaces, seating areas, and sleep for 2-3 people. Additional bedrooms are in the area of the home that was added in the 1930s and sleep two. Breakfast is served daily from 7:30 am to 10:00 am, offering a taste of the South. Coffee, tea, and water are served all day. The Bourbon Tasting Room offers tastings, cocktails, and a daily light snack menu until 8 pm.
