Today is National Cocktail Day! Here are a few cocktail recipes crafted by mixologists from The Skylark and Maxwell’s Chophouse, both located in NYC. Each venue boasts a stellar cocktail program from renowned mixologists. 

Maxwell’s Chophouse

The contemporary steakhouse opened in NoMad this past November following a super successful 14-year run in Boca Raton, Florida. Maxwell’s recently appointed Juan Arboleda (Employees Only) to create the restaurants’ new beverage program. Arboleda has created an innovative list of specialty cocktails inspired by the steakhouse itself with a number of fat-infused and washed cocktails including:

Duck, Duck, Goose

duck, duck, goose cocktail Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. of Duck Fat Infused Rye Whiskey
  • .5 oz. of Demerara Sweetener (1:1)
  • 4 Dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters
  • 1 Dash of Angostura Bitters
  • .25 oz. Absinthe
  • Lemon Twist

Instructions:

  • Rinse a rocks glass with absinthe
  • Add crushed ice and let stand while stirring other ingredients in a mixing glass
  • Pouring out absinthe and ice
  • Strain the cocktail into the rinsed glass
  • Express and rim the glass with lemon twist then garnish

Billy Ocean

Billy Ocean cocktailIngredients:

  • 2 oz. caramelized butter fat washed mount gay black barrel Rum
  • .5 oz. apple cider sweetener
  • 3 oz. dashes of pimento bitters
  • Cinnamon and nutmeg grated garnish

Instructions:

  • Add Rum, sweetener and bitters in to mixing glass and stir
  • Strain in to old fashioned glass with ice
  • Grate cinnamon and nutmeg on top for garnish

Acclaimed mixologist Johnny Swet is the mastermind behind the rotating cocktail program at The Skylark, the year round rooftop cocktail lounge in Midtown West. Swet conceptualizes flavor-packed drinks that put a creative twist on classics. Some highlights include:

Prince Harry

Prince Harry CocktailIngredients:

  • 1.5 oz. Tito’s Vodka
  • 1 oz. PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur
  • .5 oz. Agave
  • .75 oz. Lime

Instructions:

  • Shake with ice and strain into copper mug
  • Garnish with pomegranate seed ice mold

Spiced Negroni

Spiced NegroniIngredients:

  • 1 oz. Plymouth Gin
  • 1 oz. Campari
  • 1 oz. Carpano Antica
  • 1 bar spoon Allspice Dram

 

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and stir
  • Pour into a rocks glass with an ice block
  • Rim the glass with an orange peel and garnish with a star anise

 

Montreal 75

Montreal 75Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Nolet’s Gin
  • .5 oz. Lemon Juice
  • .75 Maple Syrup
  • Prosecco
  • Cranberry Juice

Instructions:

  • Combine ingredients and stir in Prosecco and a splash of cranberry juice
  • Garnish with lemon twist.
