Spring Break at Noble + Proper in Big Bear
Looking for a peaceful and quiet cabin up in the So Cal mountains? How about a place to stay during a ski trip getaway? All roads leading to Big Bear are open and the snow dusted pine trees are breathtaking to see.
Big Bear is known as a rustic mountain resort frequented by L.A. weekenders. There haven’t been any luxury, design-forward destinations for discerning travelers until now with the opening of Noble + Proper. This carefully curated collection of 8 refurbished cabins are probably the nicest cabins you will find on the mountain.
The designer wife Sara Simon and her husband Sven acquired the property in 2021, and transformed each dwelling to honor the legacy of their family members. Each cabin is named after a person dear to them, and the interior design enlightens guest about that person’s personality. Sara Simon is the founder of Handsome Salt, and transformed the cabins one at a time, putting attention to detail on the walls with stunning papers, floors with wood and gorgeous fire clay tiles, and efficient kitchens that just make guests feel right a home. Every cabin features an outdoor furnished balcony or front patio.
Staying in the Elfriede’s Haus, guests will enjoy taking a shower in the stunning pink and green tiled bathroom. In an Instagram post Simon calls it the “cutest Kermit & Miss Piggy bathroom.” According to an article in Architectural Digest, “In the ’50s and ’60s, the classic bathroom colors were Pepto pink, baby blue, and jade green.” Simon sets these tile colors in an eye-catching pattern.
There is no reception desk at this property. All cabins are keyless, and guests receive an email 24 hours before arrival with check-in instructions and an access code to enter their private cabin.
There are seven different two-story, 830 square feet, two bedroom and 1.5 bathroom mountain cabins with a modern twist. All offer comfortable Parachute bedding, aromatic Noble+Proper bath amenities, a cozy gas fireplace, kitchen with a refrigerator, toaster, plates, silverware, glassware, microwave, electric kettle, coffee maker and complimentary coffee and sparkling water.
The Orville’s Lodge is ideal for families, girlfriend getaways and groups. The 3,000 square feet house offers four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. There is an attached two-car garage and cedar hot tub in the back. The open floor plan offers multiple Queen beds and bunk beds, en-suite bathrooms, walk-in showers, and a bathtub.
Ski and mountain bike enthusiasts will appreciate how Noble + Proper is located less than two miles from Snow Summit and close to Big Bear Snow Play and Alpine Slide.
Prices at Noble + Proper start at $495 a night, excluding taxes and fees.
