Tony Awards Crafted Cocktails Befitting Broadway Legends [COCKTAIL TIME]
Broadway-buffs are standing by to cheers to their favorite Tony Award winners while watching this year’s show. And what better way to celebrate than with a bespoke beverage crafted by Master Mixologist, Lynnette Marrero in collaboration with Zacapa Rum
 
The 76th annual Tony Awards will be taking place on June 11th in Washington Heights and Zacapa Rum has curated a cocktail collection befitting Broadway legends. These spirited serves pay homage to icons of the theater world and the productions that have been paramount to their success. Each drink was consciously created by Marrero to reflect the timeless craft of stage acting and the community that brings Broadway to life. 
 
Any fan looking to host a viewing party for the momentous night will find a variety of rum based serves suitable for every palette and a perfect way to elevate the occasion. Those interested in Zacapa XO, the brand’s ultra premium spirit, will find two exquisite serves meant to be lifted like a Tony Award while toasting to the stars. XO on a Cloud is a decadent serve using Guatemalan Cold Brew, Pimento Bitters, and Spiced Cacao Simple Syrup, topped with a whisper of smoke, while Zacapa Gold Fashioned is a tropical take on an Old Fashioned, complete with Cinnamon Infused Agave Syrup, Banana Liqueur, and Mole Bitters – garnished with a gold gilded banana leaf. 
 
Additionally, those who prefer Zacapa No. 23 have three more options at their fingertips to round out their celebratory serves. Those hoping to honor the Heights and its thriving Hispanic community will find that Zacapa Piraguas does just that. A twist on a Piragua, a shaved ice serve comes in three fruity flavors – coconut, passion fruit, or pineapple. Meanwhile, theater enthusiasts looking for something simpler can try Palace Sparkler which is topped with champagne or Showstopper, a herbaceous classic that combines the rum with Yellow Chartreuse and Oloroso Sherry.

The two esteemed brands have created a series of cocktail experiences as official partners of the awards show to bring elevated serves and celebration to nominees, presenters, and spirits enthusiasts. XO on a Cloud

 

Ingredients: 

2 oz Zacapa XO Rum
3 Dashes Dale Degroff Pimento Bitters
.25 oz Spiced Cacao Simple Syrup 
.5 oz Guatemalan Cold Brewed Coffee 
Spray of Ciroc Coconut
 
Ice/Garnish:
Large branded ice cube with edible gold logo 
Smoky finish with flavor blaster or this  Zacapa Branded dry ice tool
 
Glass: Rocks glass 
 
Method: 
Spiced Cacao Simple Syrup 

Ingredients

2 cups simple syrup 1:1 sugar to water

6 cardamom pods

1 tsp roasted cacao nibs

½ vanilla bean

Method

Place in a sous vide silicone bag and sous vide for 1.5hrs at 145 degrees

Place in an Ice bath until it cools down

Strain with a fine strainer, transfer to a quart container, label and date

In lieu of sous-vide add spices to hot simple syrup let infuse for 2 hours

Zacapa Gold Fashioned

Zacapa Gold Fashioned
 
Ingredients:
2 oz Zacapa XO Rum
¼ oz Cinnamon Infused Agave Syrup
¼ oz Banana Liqueur
3 Dashes Mole Bitters (may sub aromatic)
 
Ice/Garnish:
Large branded ice cube, expressed orange peel 
Gold accented wrapped with banana leaf in glass
 
Glass: Rocks glass  
 
Method: 
Add all ingredients into a mixing glass. 
Add ice and stir. 
Strain into a Rock glass with a large ice cube. 
Express an orange peel and garnish with gold gilded banana-leaf wrapped glass
 

Zacapa Piraguas 

Zacapa Piraguas 
 
Ingredients:
1 ½ oz Zacapa No.23 Rum 
3-4 oz Piragua Mix (guest to select one)
Piragua de Coco:  oat milk and coconut cream, coconut water, agave nectar, cinnamon
Piragua de Parcha: flavored with passion fruit liqueur, mango nectar, lime
Piragua de Piña: flavored with pineapple juice, mint, agave nectar
Ice/Garnish: Shaved ice
Glass: Coupe glass served with a small spoon

Palace Sparkler    

Palace Sparkler
 
Ingredients:
1 ½ oz Zacapa No.23 Rum 
¾  oz Lime Juice 
½ oz Simple Syrup (or infused mint syrup for speed bars, add leaves to the glasses)
¾ oz Champagne/Prosecco top 
2 Dashes Aromatic Bitters
 
Ice/Garnish:
Crushed ice
Mint leaves or sprigs 
 
Glass: Highball 
 
Method:
Combine simple syrup and 4-5  mint leaves in a cocktail shaker.
Muddle well until the oils from the mint leaves are expressed.
Add lime juice and Zacapa Rum
Add Ice, Shake well and strain into a high ball filled with ice.
Top with sparkling wine and garnish with remaining mint leaves and sprig.
 

Showstopper 

Showstopper 
 
Ingredients:
1oz Zacapa No.23 Rum 
½  oz Simple syrup 
¼  oz Yellow Chartreuse 
3/4 oz aperitivo (Aperol) 
1 oz Lemon juice
1 oz Oloroso Sherry 
 
Ice/Garnish: Served with a coiled lemon 
 
Glass: Coupe or cocktail class 
 
Method:
Place all ingredients in a shaker with ice. 
Strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a coiled lemon twist
